Maybe this is cope, but I just straight-up don’t buy the Minnesota polls. We do this with statewide races in Minnesota every two years, and they always turn out the same.

Nohl Williams made a play on WR screen in week one that was as cool as you’ll ever see. Sadly wiped out by a (legit) penalty.

Yeah, we all made these jokes after the 2021 Georgia specials about a bunch of new bridges and community centers in West Virginia being named after Manchin, but it turns out...he didn't want that. It would have been really awesome if he had.

Look, you might not like it, but it’s a simple historical fact that no one with a beard has ever successfully fought in a war.

I don’t think D+15 will happen, but I do think D+10/11/12 are now firmly on the probability curve. Republicans are certainly behaving like it.

I particularly enjoyed Neil Chatterjee blaming the Biden Administration, for the sin of...passing a bill and then celebrating it.

When your running game is simultaneously efficient and explosive, that solves just about every conceivable issue on offense.

Ah, but you neglected to consider that it was a brilliant gambit to ensure a long drive that eats up the rest of the quarter.

I'm happy to spend Tom Steyer's money on just about anything, but it's just obviously a much better idea to focus on Texas instead of Missouri?

I would also add that this isn't a new development (the competitiveness of extreme red states is, to be sure). Democrats have consistently done a better job running good candidates in competitive races during the Trump years.

Wait, her keen political insight is that Democrats should invest heavily in *Missouri*?

There's an easy comparison to the NFL draft, I think, where a lot of time and energy goes into it, but the results ultimately feel kind of random. So you construct these kind of absurd sets of rules and theories to impose a sense of order on the whole enterprise.

I'm higher on the BB ending because I think I read it less as "Amazing Walter White achieves total victory" and more "Walt carves a bit of a grace note out of his ultimate defeat."

If Stephens has a bunch of books he loved that he thinks haven't been recognized, he could write about that. He could champion them. That would be useful and interesting! Of course, that would require Stephens to read.

I might be forgetting something, but what was striking yesterday was that none of the big pass plays required Mahomes Magic. They were all in-rhythm and in the structure of the play call. The bomb to Thornton was a magnificent throw, but it didn't require him to create something out of nothing.

*whispers* Kelce was actually pretty good last year — bringing him back was totally reasonable.

There was also some sub-optimal timeout usage and clock management. I try not to overreact to that stuff, because it's very easy to focus on it and not the less-obvious things that make a coach successful, but I'd still like to see it improve.

I haven't really taken seriously the possibility of Abbott losing, and I still probably don't, but the polls are pretty consistent in saying he is, at the very least, facing a competitive race.

I don't even like Shedeur Sanders, but if you figure that he has a one percent chance of being a capable NFL starter and a 10 percent chance of being a capable backup, I'd so much rather take a shot on that than ride with Watson.

Unfortunately he's a bit selfish, as those punt returns are keeping him from picking up receiving yards, and my goal for this season is to see a Gator receiver exceed 1,000 yards.

I think this is a really important point — there’s a difference between face-to-face, one-on-one persuasion and mass politics. One vax-skeptical parent might be persuaded by a kindly, empathetic pediatrician slowly walking them through the evidence. It doesn’t work like that with movements.
