The Giants released a very long list of injury updates, including this on Harrison Bader: Harrison Bader (left foot injury) will work on his running and baseball progressions over the offseason and is expected to be fully ready by spring training.

Tough news. Duane Kuiper is undergoing treatment for throat cancer. He had to cancel this weekend’s trip to LA but plans to be in the booth Tuesday and for the final weekend with his retiring best friend, Mike Krukow

Bryce Eldridge is being monitored for a concussion, Tony Vitello said. He’s been ruled out to return tomorrow. Tugboat will start at LA.

Bryce Eldridge hit his head on a low ceiling or passageway at the team hotel. He took BP and is not in concussion protocol, says Tony Vitello, but was scratched out of an abundance of caution

Bryce Eldridge was scratched with what the Giants are describing as a head laceration. He was fine during batting practice, so this is very unexpected.

There’s still a strong hope that Marcelo Mayer is able to play a few games as a Giant this season, GM Zack Minasian said. Mayer is picking up his running drills today.

The Giants hit four home runs in a 7-6 loss to the Padres. Over 27 seasons at their waterfront ballpark, the Giants are 38-4 when hitting four-plus home runs. The Padres own three of the four victories by opponents.

Jackson Flora’s playoff start for San Jose: two innings, two walks, no hits, four strikeouts, touched 99. Showmanship, too. Fanned the side in the 2nd including the beer batter, and doffed his cap as he strutted off the mound.

Here is a list of every major league season since 1980 in which a player was a) younger than 22, b) appeared in at least 100 games and c) posted an OPS+ of at least 130. Prepare to be floored by the company that Bryce Eldridge is keeping.

Rafael Devers is on a heck of a heater. He hit a three-run homer off Paul Skenes and suddenly he's got 82 RBIs. He's got a shot at becoming the first Giant to reach 100 since Buster Posey's NL MVP season in 2012. Prior to that, it was Bonds in his last MVP season of 2004.

Also, Drew Gilbert was scratched and Jonah Cox replaces him, batting cleanup. No word yet on a reason. Turner Hill slides into the leadoff spot. He's the 15th player the Giants have tried there to start a game this season. Their collected .289 OBP from the No.1 spot is the worst in MLB.

The Giants added P Cesar Perdomo and C Zach Morgan, so Wilkin Ramos remains on taxi in Pittsburgh. Adrian Houser was transferred to the 60-day IL. The Giants now have 13 players on the 60-day IL, which is insane.

Barry Bonds is here w/Juan Marichal and Will Clark, the only other living Giants with retired numbers, to honor Jeff Kent. Bonds hasn't been at the ballpark since the opener, when Netflix paid him to be there. Bonds' contract expired and he and the Giants haven't come to terms on a new agreement.

The Giants are wearing a red ribbon for HIV/AIDS awareness on Until There's a Cure night in SF, and thus far, there's been full compliance. JT Brubaker and Sam Hentges, who either didn't wear the Pride Night hat June 12 or appended it with a Bible verse, are wearing the ribbon on their jerseys.

As much of a bummer as the Daniel Susac injury is, in one respect, it could've been worse. Susac needed to spend 90 days on the active roster or his Rule 5 provisions would carry over to next year. By my count, he's spent 94 days on the active roster. Whew.

For those wondering, Duane Kuiper/Mike Krukow won't be on the Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick Award ballot this winter. Once every 5 years, the committee votes on broadcasters who retired prior to the Wild Card era (1995). That's where we are in the cycle. Krukow and Kuiper will be eligible the next 4.

Gotta feel for Dylan Smith, who has been walked off in four ballparks this year (Colorado, Seattle, San Diego, now Texas). This one wasn't all on him. Jung Hoo Lee got turned around and couldn't catch Ezequiel Duran's two-out, game-winning single.

Gotta say, after what it took to get Skubal, I didn't think the Giants would get much for the three players they were likeliest to move. They've exceeded my expectations, anyway. It'll make an even bigger impact if they smartly reinvest the ~$12 million they saved in their three trades.
