Because to take away a man's freedom of choice, even his freedom to make the wrong choice, is to manipulate him as though he were a puppet and not a person.

—Nietzsche; The Antichrist, seg. 23
Strong hope is a far more powerful stimulant of life than any single realization of happiness could ever be.

Those who suffer must be sustained by a hope that can never be contradicted by any reality or be disposed of by any fulfillment-a hope for the beyond. (Precisely because of its ability to keep the unfortunate in continual suspense, the Greeks considered hope the evil of evils, the truly insidious evil: it remained behind in the barrel of evils.)

“If there is a God who listens to prayer, then His silence in the face of children mangled by war or starved by famine is not holy mystery but moral collapse. We are told this God sometimes appears in the shape of a cloud, in the fortune of a good test score, or in the triumph of a football game. Yet when the smallest and most innocent cry out in terror, this same God is nowhere to be found. If such a being exists, He is either unwilling to act or unable to act—and either way, He is not what we mean by perfectly good.”

"A man who lies to himself, and believes his own lies, becomes unable to recognize truth, either in himself or in anyone else, and he ends up losing respect for himself and for others. When he has no respect for anyone, he can no longer love, and in him, he yields to his impulses, indulges in the lowest form of pleasure, and behaves in the end like an animal in satisfying his vices. And it all comes from lying — to others and to yourself."
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

And it couldn’t be clearer how disastrous this performative support is for Palestinians themselves. Anti-Zionism is not just a buzz word, it demands a war against Israel’s existence. “Ceasefire now” but also “no peace on stolen land?” Make up your minds: do you want peace or do you want a lot more dead Palestinians until the jews throw themselves into the sea?

During the last two years I’ve also noticed something else: the “pro-Palestinian” position (as it’s currently expressed) is almost never about solutions. It’s slogans. It’s rage. It’s endless moral accusation. Ask anyone parroting “from the river to the sea” what their actual endgame is, and you’ll either get incoherence or a utopian fantasy in which the only Jewish state vanishes without a trace, somehow peacefully.

That, and the whole pro-Palestinian side just feels entirely performative both in the words that they say and the actions that they make. Im entirely allergic to intellectual dishonesty, lazy smears and people who can never engage with what’s being said.

Unweaving the Rainbow —Richard Dawkins
There is an anaesthetic of familiarity, a sedative of ordinariness, which dulls the senses and hides the wonder of existence. For those of us not gifted in poetry, it is at least worth while from time to time making an effort to shake off the anaesthetic. What is the best way of countering the sluggish habituation brought about by our gradual crawl from babyhood? We can't actually fly to another planet. But we can recapture that sense of having just tumbled out to life on a new world by looking at our own world in unfamiliar ways.

And even if you say goodbye, you'll never go away
You are the rainbow in my sky, my colours in the grey
My only wish upon a star, sunshine in the day
The only song that my piano ever plays
And even if you say goodbye, you'll always be around
To lift me up and take me high, keep my feet close to the ground
Are you proud of me tonight? Dreams are comin' true
I choose the light, nothin' to lose if I lose you
New day will rise, life will go on
Everyone cries, don't cry alone
Darkness will fade, all the pain will go by
But wе will stay, even if you say goodbye

Morning glories have symbolized love that was never returned, but have also been seen as a sign of undying love.
Each color holds a different meaning: blue represents enduring love, desire, and power; purple symbolizes grace, wealth, and hopefulness; pink is a sign of gratitude and energy; red means passion and strength; white, like many other flowers, symbolizes purity and innocence.

LPT Sometimes you expect a lot from someone because you'd do that much for them.

One of the quietest sources of disappointment in life is expecting people to show up the way you would to be as thoughtful, loyal, generous, or consistent as you are. But the truth is, people give what they're capable of, not what you deserve. And that gap can hurt.

You might bend over backward for someone and expect that same energy in return but when it doesn't come, it's not always about you. It's about their limits, not your worth.

Here's the tip: don't measure other people's love by your own standards. Expecting you from them will leave you frustrated. Instead, observe how people naturally show up without hints, tests, or pressure and accept that as their truth.

Adjust your expectations accordingly. You'll save yourself a lot of emotional burnout and start focusing more energy on people who genuinely reciprocate.

Give freely but wisely.

"The world is drowning in convenience. We have machines to do everything for us, yet we've never been more exhausted. We have endless entertainment, yet we've never been more bored.
We've built a civilization where we can fly across the world in a day, yet we've never felt more trapped.
What have we lost in exchange for all this efficiency? The texture of life, the slowness that allows us to feel. I fear we're becoming like the robots we create-functional, but empty..... I don't reject technology outright-that would be foolish. But we must ask ourselves: Does this invention truly serve humanity, or is it just another way to distract us from the emptiness of modern existence? A tool should extend our humanity, not replace it.
Animation itself is a technology, but it's meaningless if it doesn't touch the soul."

“The wonder of the resurrection stories in the Gospels is that Jesus has no punitive attitude toward the authorities or his cowardly followers, and that the followers themselves never call for any kind of holy war against those who killed their leader. Something new has clearly transpired in history. This is not the common and expected story line. All Jesus does is breathe forgiveness.”

11. Explanatory Inversion: Questions rest on unexamined assumptions, so always try flipping them. For instance, don’t just ask why there is poverty, ask why there is prosperity. This helps you realize poverty is the norm and the lack of it is the thing that needs to be explained.

_The School Of Life: An Emotional Education
The eventual result of a quest for self-knowledge might be presumed to be a confident understanding of the corridors of the mind. But a truly successful outcome might involve something rather different. The more closely we introspect, the more we start to appreciate the range of tricks our minds play on us – and therefore the more we appreciate the extent to which we will continually misjudge situations and the feelings they provoke. A successful search for self-knowledge may furnish us not with a set of newly mined rock-solid certainties, but with an admission of how little we do – and ever can – properly know ourselves.

A final point: some of this may sound convincing. But that isn’t enough. We know – in theory – about all of it. And yet in practice, any such ideas have a notoriously weak ability to motivate our actual behaviour and emotions. Our knowledge is both embedded within us and yet is ineffective for us.

We forget almost everything. Our memories are sieves, not robust buckets. What seemed a convincing call to action at 8am will be nothing more than a dim recollection by midday and an indecipherable contrail in our cloudy minds by evening. Our enthusiasms and resolutions can be counted upon to fade like the stars at dawn. Nothing much sticks.

For this reason, we need to go back over things. Maybe once a day, certainly once a week. A true good ‘school’ shouldn’t tell us only things we’ve never heard before; it would be deeply interested in rehearsing all that is theoretically known yet practically forgotten.

8. TRANSCEND YOURSELF

We are not at the center of anything; thankfully. We are miniscule bundles of evanescent matter on an infinitesimal corner of a boundless universe. We do not count one bit in the grander scheme. This is a liberation.

Rather than complaining that we are too small, we should delight in being humbled by a mighty ocean, a glacier, or planet Kepler 22b, 638 light-years from earth in the constellation of Cygnus.

We should gain relief from the thought of the kindly indifference of spatial infinity: an eternity where no-one will notice, and where the wind erodes the rocks in the space between the stars. Cosmic humility – taught to us by nature, history and the sky above us – is a blessing and a constant alternative to a life of frantic jostling, humourlessness and anxious pride.
