Vonnegut's prose and wit are as sharp as a knife, and so much of it feels painfully current, especially when he rants about how computers and automation are killing creativity and the human spirit. Many of the quotes used in the book will be perfect slogans in the upcoming AI wars.

I'm not a big fan of Brian De Palma or the film, but the book sample was good, so I read the whole thing. If you're interested in film or want to read about how a terrible movie was made in the late '80s/early '90s, this is the book for you.

Next is a non-fiction tale about a famous shipwreck. It does a great job of transporting you back, and it's great fun to take breaks from reading it and say to yourself, 'Thank fuck that I'm not a sailor in the 18th century!'

Simon Rich continues to be great, and he remains the writer who inspires me the most. This was his first novel and is the perfect example of a fun, breezy summer read. It includes teenage angst and a fun, evil Richie Rich.
