@adresscomptoir.bsky.social Kleiner Hinweis auf commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ri... - kürzlich beim Dorotheum. Ich sehe Konskr.nr. 1001(?) und Hausnr. 9.

"Tao of Glass" at Soho Place (the firs new West End Theatre in 50 years). I still don't know what this actually was... Phelim McDermott's self-told life journey with the music of Philip Glass, with puppetry and paper folding. Probably 40min too long, but I enjoyed it quite a lot.

"The Story" at the National Theatre is already somewhat of a historical play, mostly about 2003 US newspaper staff when newspapers were still most important. The production was stunning, fast, with good cast, and the play about fake news and journalistic ethics (and racism) is still very relevant.

Mike Leigh's "Abigail's Party" at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Tamzin Outhwaite is great as the bored narcissist Essex wife, and the ensemble, set and direction worked well. Sometimes very funny, but not as funny as the constantly lauhing-out-loud moron in my row thought, especially the tragic ending.

Very good lunchtime organ concert at St Lawrence Jewry (near Guildhall) by James McVinnie. Buxthude, Byrd, J. Alain, Bach, on a quite large, fine Klais organ of 2001. Tea and biscuits served, too, and lovely volunteers.

"Electra/Persona" was quite a mindf**k... They toss a coin to decide who's playing who that night. I got Nina Hoss as Electra/Elisabeth and Cate Blanchett as Clytemnestra/Alma. Both were excellent and very expressive. Ella Hyland and Patrick Robinson also good in the smaller roles.

The Tempest, a semi-opera by Purcell a. o. at the wonderful Vache Baroque festival. Very well done, but the first part could have used quite some more music, I think.

Handel's "Giulio Cesare" condensed into 2.5 hours by "New Trinity Baroque" at the Arcola Theatre was (kind of surprisingly) excellent. Good singers, period instruments and lots of exciting embellishments in the Da Capo Arias. I love opera in tiny spaces like that.

The musical "Pride" (at the National Theatre) about "Lesbians & Gays Support the Miners" in 1984 was a really good show, brilliantly done by the whole ensemble, with a very moving story, as sad as uplifting, and still with lots of laughs. The audience clearly loved it as much as I did.

Did not know about this exercise of postcard big data in WW2
It was March 1942. Britain was readying itself to fight the Nazis on the beaches and on the landing grounds. But they had very little idea what those beaches and landing grounds looked like.
Admiral John Godfrey, the head of British naval intelligence, took to the BBC with a public plea. Your photos and postcards, he said, might look like holiday frivolity but "experts may see a lot more"
". He asked people to send them in-and they did. In droves. 10,000 were expected; 10m were received. Then British intelligence started to sort them; not now under words like "rue" or
"plage" but under different names: under "Omaha", "Sword" and "Juno". The preparations for what would become known as "D-Day" had begun.

"Výlety páně Broučkovy" in Bregenz.
