I don’t know if it’s the same place you’re at now, but my son is a junior at Case and a few weeks ago we ended up at place off Euclid with hella AI menu photos and the absolute funniest UI I’ve ever experienced, but the food was excellent!! 😂

Digital menu asking the user about various sandwich additions and subtractions, like add bacon and then indicated the number of pieces.

But it also says minus sauce +/- and minus ketchup +/- then add mayo +/- and how do you even respond?!?!

This makes me very happy. My son was a vest guy as a kid, and now he is as an adult. His collection of ties is impeccable. Kid has more effortless style than I could dream of pulling off with a month to plan.

A young vest guy seeing Ben Folds with the SF symphony in like, 2013? He is about 9ish, with a blue pin stripe shirt, grass-stained jeans, black chucks, and a dark grey vest. He is sitting in the theatre, in an empty row, and he’s absolutely hyped to be there.

Another show, another vest. This young vest guy was 7 years old when this was taken. He’s standing outside the Nederlander Theatre in NYC in a white button down, black vest, jeans, and low cut black chucks. He’s wearing a newsboy cap to see Newsies, as one does. My dad has had this little bear with a wee keffiyeh from @wearthepeace.bsky.social with him through hospital, surgery, rehab, and now assisted living. Dad’s name is Larry. The staff all call him LareBear 💕

Avi and I laughed so fucking hard at this horrific UI, and both grabbed our phones immediately to snap a pic for posterity. It’s insanely bad.

Hands down the absolute worst UI I have ever actually experienced. It says MINUS SAUCE but the options are +/- 1, so if I don’t want sauce, is that +1 to MINUS SAUCE? What??

NO U 🧡🧡🧡 What a special forever gift that was! It’s been in 2 apartments and now 3 dorms, hanging out with a bunch of @ibrahimmoustafa.bsky.social and @benjamindewey.bsky.social art, among others. And in great company with these other two walls this year!!

A whole bunch of mostly music-related posters including Simon & Garfunkel, Jacob Collier, Ben Folds, is that Pink Floyd? Idk. Also some jazz and some Pittsburgh postcards and a signed Josh Johnson poster and a bunch of other small arts. These are two of Avi’s very high-ceilings bedroom walls in his on-campus apartment for his junior year at Case Western Reserve University.

I’m The Worst at all things fiber art, so when I can afford to, I buy them from other brilliant artists not similarly afflicted. This is a recent acquisition.

I think this is technically embroidery? It’s a small hoop with a pale cream fabric, and stitched in the middle is DON’T OBEY IN ADVANCE in red. It’s surrounded by zigzags and swirls of other colors of thread, also embroidered. The artist is Lelleo, from Colorado, US.

This is Nicky & Nora. They are utterly ridiculous, and also the best. Nora has always slept like a toddler. Ten years later she’s still the troublemaker. Her sister Nicky’s claim to fame is no object permanence. She’ll play with a bug, eat it, and look for it. Apex predators they are not 🐈🐈

Friends. I have an office. My very first grownup university office, with my name outside the door and room for a chair or even two for students and a bookcase that is currently full of leftover snacks but will soon be full of books and a view?? A hella dirty window, but a view nonetheless.

My new office, with a bunch of classy metal office furniture, hilarious carpet in shades of blues and greens and purples, unpacked boxes, a non working printer, my EJI calendar, and various detritus from recent PhD programs and events. Call it a work in progress.

My son’s ‘dorm pets’ his first year of college were two beautiful mantises in separate aquariums. They are remarkably chill, expressive, and oddly cat-like in their mannerisms. We decided it was probably because mantises and cats both have trapezoid-shaped heads 😂
