andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 01/03/2026People have preferences? I got an m1 max mbp when it came out but after a few years switched to asahi linux since I just prefer linux. Eventually I just switched back to an x86 laptop with linux because it was less of a hassle for me and had better hardware support when it comes to linux. 000
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 20/02/2026moved to OVH because cheap vps and TWO DAYS later they mail me saying the vps will be basically 2x more expensive starting this april 000
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 17/02/2026It's $10 now with the release of GLM 5 (even tho it does not currently allow you to use this model) Was honestly considering it at the previous price but this mostly put me off it personally 010
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 17/02/2026honestly it does seem really cool but i also really wish I could just manage my codebase normally i kinda want to make some way to do that more easily 000

andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 06/02/2026all this discourse about claude writing a c compiler for 20k but state of the art LLMs still can't write me a functioning pytorch training loop if its just a little bit too specific 000
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 15/01/2026yes honestly its fun and the early access is better than i thought it would be 020
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 06/01/2026sorry your package got divided by zero and promptly disintegrated 000
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 04/01/2026In my experience AI has been not very good when it comes to writing burn code even for small snippets. 010
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 04/01/2026I just came across this thread so feel free to ignore but I wonder how it would fare with implementing a recent LLM like qwen3 using a less popular library like Burn for rust. Maybe I just dont know enough about it but it seems difficult to get good tests for something like this. 210
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 03/01/2026Z-Image is currently one of the top open weights models. It easily runs on 8gb vram when quantized and I've seen someone run it on 4gb vram and even an android phone. It may even be possible to run fully in the browser. So the barrier to run it is really not that high. 020
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 26/12/2025bluesky accidentally made the best site for people creating AI datasets its so easy to just bulk download anything and if you dont add alt text to your images people get mad so images are even captioned for free 000

andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 27/09/2025great that with bluesky pds the handles "test" and "testing" are reserved, I really thought I did something wrong setting up my pds 😭 010
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 28/08/2025This seems like a problem for anyone who wants to be less dependent on google or apple. In the case of android your OS *has* to be signed by google, meaning you can't use any custom ROMs. i think this will hurt digital sovereignty. 010
andreas @andreas.hgk.me · 28/08/2025There are a few problems with their implementation. If this gets rolled out this would mean you can't use any custom android ROMs on your phone and have no choice but to download these apps through the play store. ppc.land/eu-age-verif...ppc.landEU age verification app faces criticism over Google dependencyEuropean Union's new age verification prototype requires Google Play Integrity API, raising concerns about digital sovereignty. 120
