Wow. It’s a webworm-palooza here! 🐛 A couple summers ago, I noticed a few Schubert Chokecherry/and ornamental purple-leaf plum trees affected with them. But, having many of those trees planted in my community, the webworms are EXTRA abundant this year 😳😱

Purple leafed tree (center) with upper half covered in white webworm nests. Setting sun seen behind leaves of 2nd tree on right.

Large white, silken nest seen on trunk of tree, with many webworm inside.

Wow. It is pouring rain AGAIN, and this time (a first for me) I watched it release/hatch 100s (1000s!) of baby mosquitoes from my eavestrough. There are waves, and waves, and waves of them 😳😳😱😱😱😱😭😭😭 The mosquitos have no plans to leave this summer 😳😖

Many of my 'in the ground' petunias have done poorly this year because of all our rain. Slugs have been thriving and feasting on them 😒 Thankfully, the ones planted in pots have remained slug free and doing well.

Strong winds today, so thought I’d get caught up on some yard work to avoid the mosquitos. But... the mosquitos didn’t care about the wind, and were still out there being little🤬s.😠

We seem to be caught in a never ending cycle of heavy rain and flooding this summer 😒, but at least there are cute babies to see in-between the storms 🥰

Flooded storm pond extending on to grassy areas and partially submerging shrubs/trees along the banks. Houses to both sides and behind pond. Very grey, cloudy sky.

American coot family. 2 adults with 4 chicks at the side of a pond. Lots of reed debris seen on edge of pond (bank and water edge) due to flooding. Coots appear to be standing on a piece of cardboard on the pond bank.

Yikes. Had more torrential rain last night (and more storm incoming this evening), which brings us up to 408mm in the past 45 days (531mm for the yr so far). Apparently, our ave precipitation for the ENTIRE year is 423mm. And of course, the mosquitos are loving it 😒

Another heavy rain storm early this afternoon, adding more water to already flooded areas. Sun did come back out, but clouds were already rolling in again by the end of my walk. Path selection definitely limited today due to flooding... or geese 😁.

Overflowing storm pond center of image. Blue sky above with a few wispy white clouds. Green grass foreground. Houses to both sides and far in the background.

Flowering shrubs with red flowers (middle of image) and a tree (upper R) partially submerged in flooded storm pond.

Flooded path submerged under pond water. Black lampposts seen in foreground and into distance on left side of path. Trees/shrubs both sides of path partially submerged in water. Grass to left of path looks passable, but holds 2-3 inches of water when stepped on.
