I’ve finished #ashortstayinhell, the existential horror novella by Steven L. Peck. I enjoyed it, although I would have preferred it to be developed into a full novel. There are so many ideas that are only briefly touched on, left unresolved. But that's only my desire speaking. It's fine as it is. 📚💙

Reading A Short Stay in Hell, by Steven L. Peck. It’s the first work by this author I’ve read, and so far I’m enjoying it quite a bit. It's the right season, I think. I like existential, Borges-like stories and this scratches the itch nicely. 📚💙

#Soma by #Frictional Games. Keep thinking about it even after years. It’s the most haunting #game I’ve played, with a perfect ending. Although it’s classified as #horror, there are no supernatural ghosts, no cosmic terrors: only a relentless reflection on the nature of #consciousness and mortality.

2. Great eye For contracts

3. Pays For lunch

Tip: if possible, get both. But if forced to choose, lunch probably swings it for the agent.

Since it's almost Midsummer...

A giant, red, goat-headed demon sits on a stone throne in a subterranean chamber.
"So, it is decided: on midsummer's eve, my words shall spew forth across the land like black fire!"

"We prefer to call it 'publication day'" says his publicist.

"..And we were hoping you might do some social media to to promote the book?"

Things turmn dark, the demon's goat eyes glow
"I cannot fathom the accursed opiate screens that so enthral your kind."

"Yeah, some of our other authors feel that way, but that's why we have Toby: he's an absolute whiz!" she replies, introducing a small man.

"I'll set you up on twitter and you'll be corrupting Souls in no time!" says Toby.

Another author might have turned this story into a 600-page novel. Susanna Clarke did it in under three hundred, and the result is perfect as it is. A powerful imagination and an elegant execution. Inspirational. I wish I saw her work in bookstores more often, but maybe it's better this way. 💙📚
