On 9/11/2001 I was 13 years old living in New Jersey about an hour outside of NYC. Many of my classmates lost their parents that day. I try not to get too overly reverential or “Never Forget”-y, but damn it sucks to see that this has became a punchline for younger generations.

When I was probably 14 or 15, my mom told me that I should pursue a career in medicine, since I liked helping people 20+ years later and she was right about helping people - now I just help them tape their belts in place and cut them out of costumes when quick changes go poorly

My husband and I like to make aviation cocktails sometimes, except we bought a red cherry liqueur instead of clear maraschino liqueur, so they are unfortunately a cloudy gray rather than the traditional lavender hue. We call them “dirty mop water” (Tastes fucking great though)
