I read Aurora’s Angel by Emily Noon. I found the writing very clunky 😬 but the story and romance were engaging😩 Like my brain was rejecting the prose but my heart was just eating up the contents 😂 I think the tone/vibes would have actually made for a good yuri anime! #wlw #yuri #sapphicbooks

To have the characters be just beyond players and archetypes in a colonial system. When anyone “good” died, I felt like I was reading a stat from a historical account. I want to be attached to the characters beyond what they politically represent! I want to be emotionally dragged if they die! 😭😂

Like, it resonated with the part of me who grew up in a mix of cultures and had privilege in some areas but not in others. The use of languages/translation as magic was so mindblowing to me. I love the way it used the worldbuilding and plot to critique systems of imperialism and colonization..
