Replacing my animation system with @esotericsoftware.com Spine2D in @godotengine.org was more painful than I anticipated but now I can implement a much richer hamster and time animations an logic in a way it would be so much harder if I stayed with my stuff. Match Tree Demo on Steam!

It’s getting better & better. Sometimes you try hard to make your idea work, that you forget about the alternatives. In my case the alternative idea is so much easier to implement and so much more fun. Plus I’m adding more reusable possibilities in my animation system. Match Tree Demo on Steam!

This morning I invested some time to add "Animation Notifies" into the Spine2D @godotengine.org setup I made. So an animation can call a function on the game logic to synchronize removing a plant for example. Even after 26 years I'm still surprised how much impact the little things can have!

Naja. Mach Multiplayer, modsupport und bessere UI. Einfacher gesagt als getan. Ich glaub es richtet sich eher an gamedeva die gerade starten. Aus Spielersicht kann ich das alles nachvollziehen. Aber ich glaub die Komplexität und der Aufwand hinter einigen Punkten wird evtl. etwas unterschätzt.

It looks like a certain kind of algae. We sailed with a bout through them in the Baltic Sea a week ago and it was large carpets of them. They tinted the water yellowish but called Blue Algae.

Guter Punkt. Diesmal nicht aber Tunic hatte schon nen prominenten Spot in der Folge über Progression durch wissen. Da war zwar Outer Wilds der Aufhänger aber da kam auch Tunic und Animal Well drin vor.

Ich liebe unser neues Format, in dem der andere bis zur Aufnahme nicht weiß, worum es gehen wird. Zu Beginn fühlte sich das sehr komisch an und teilweise etwas überfordernd, weil ich dann Sorge hab, das ich da garnix schlaues zu sagen kann. Aber muss ja nicht immer alles schlau sein. Ich habe ENDLICH mal wieder einen kleinen Comic gemacht. 🤩

Comic. "Die Minze" von datgestruepp. Bild 1: Strüppi hat sich ein Kaltgetränk mit Eis und frischen Minzblättern gemacht. Sie guckt die übrige Minze nachdenklich an.
Bild 2: Strüppi hat die übrige Minze in eine kleine Vase mit Wasser gestellt und geht mit ihrem Kaltetränk aus dem Bild.
Bild 3: Strüppi steht mit ihrem Handy vor der Minze, die inzwischen etwas gewachsen ist. Eine Sprechblase aus einem Discord ist zu sehen, darauf der Text: Strüppi: "Ab wann kann ich sie einpflanzen?" Antwort: "Ich würde warten, bis ein paar Wurzeln etwa fingerlang sind."
Bild 4: Text: "Etwas später." Strüppi steht hinter der Minze und starrt sie angestrengt an. Die Minze ist etwas gewachsen und hat auch etwas mehr Wurzeln.

Neue Folge. Endlich haben wir es geschafft. Diesmal probieren wir was anderes indem nur einer von uns das Thema vorbereitet hatte. Marcel brachte das Thema "Ende in Spielen" mit und ich hab davon erst während der Aufnahme erfahren. Da ich selbst nicht allzuviel zu Ende spiele, kam das überraschend.

As I can build on Windows and my plugins seem to work, I made myself a build script that now builds Windows, Linux and Mac and uploads it. So despite the setup work, it’s no effort. The % of players on Mac is one digit for me for now. Lower than Linux for me. But it nearly costs me nothing so..
