It wasn't anything spooky, but comedy featuring Frank Spencer. It's probably thanks to the public information films at the time but seeing Frank's back erupting with fireworks scared the hell out of me. I thought he was on fire, and the ensuing chaos really terrified me.

I understand today is the #DayofDredd, so I offer this piece I did years ago, and submission to 2000AD's Art Stars competition, with which i was a runner up.

A mixed media picture showing myself from years ago, painting the character Judge Dredd who has emerged from the paper im painting on in 3D form, pointing his Lawgiver gun at my nose, threatening me for painting his elbow pads the wrong colour (they used to be yellow before they became green).

Just got home from the cinema after watching a really enjoyable horror film. Great fun, nice mix of horror and humour - absolutely whizzed by.

Promotional poster for the 2026 film "Resident Evil" - featuring an aerial view of a car on a snow-covered winter road, trees either side - the headlights picking out a solitary figure standing in the middle of the road, it's shadow stretching out a creepy silhouette. The film's title is positioned below the picture, bathed in the red glow of the car's rear lights.

Spent what I believe to be my last afternoon on the beach for this year. There's an autumnal chill in the air that signals summer is truly over...

The afternoon soon gets lower over a stony beach as evening draws nearer.

I've been feasted upon by mosquitos AGAIN, while the person I live with remains untouched. Bastards.

Out of the two, which is the better vampire movie from the 1980s? I like The Lost Boys but I'm absolutely Team Fright Night.

My Sunday morning viewing - one of my favourites. I've concluded that a "Hand Of Fear" box set from Character Options is a must. It's got to have the female Eldrad and the hand, but should it have the male Eldrad or Sarah Jane in her dungarees...?
