This is a really fun rocket ship. Lots of kids are playing with buttons, some of which cause smoke to come out of the rocket. At Burning Man they spit out fire. #OaklandALF

The Autumn Lights Festival starts tonight in Oakland. I’ve got some art in it as usual, including some new animated parts to the Butterfleet. Look for lots of photos from me this evening. :)

The giant cabuya I grew from a tiny pup found on the sidewalk is now about to have its own babies. Good thing, too, because I planted it too close to our walk and it’s quite poky.

A spiky succulent plant with dark green leaves and an 8-foot tall green stalk growing from the center. It’s in a garden in front of a house.

Checking out the Obama Presidential center in Chicago. It’s very crowded with local families and tourists. The garden has these fancy okra plants.

A long line of people waiting to take their picture with a statue of Barack and Michelle Obama.

An heirloom okra plant in bloom. The flowers are pink and cream, and the okra growing from them is red.

The Obama Presidential center. A grey concrete building with very few windows. Carved letters appear in the upper left side - it’s the right half of a poem that wraps around the other side

Framing on the Embarcadero.

First time making this pie that I was able to take it completely out of the tin. This is butternut squash, spinach, onions and cheese in a Parmesan crust. Thanks to @piebob for the recipe.

Some more of the art at #OaklandALF. Really enjoying the end of the night when the fog comes on and gives the lights a diffuse effect.

I drove past these solar concentrators in the Mojave desert today. I love how you can see the triangle of reflected light. I’ve flown above these and driven past at dusk before. They are pretty impressive.
