A few years ago I visited the Bhitarkanika reserve in Odissa which is India’s second largest mangrove and also a crocodile reserve. Fascinating ecosystem, it was special seeing the roots grow upwards. Huge kudos to the local community there

Farha is a moving story of a young girl who is stuck/hidden in her house during the ‘48 Nakba. I went in prepared that I would be bawling at some point during the movie. I got to watch it at Casa Palestina - a beautiful new cultural centre in #Lisbon #filmsky

They had 4 baby incubators from 1903, designed by Alexander Lion from France. Between 1903 and 1950, they helped 12000 babies and families- ensuring adequate nutrition for both babies and mothers who couldn’t breastfeed due to various reasons. They had a farm with 30 cows at their peak

Museu Do Lactário is a legit hidden gem of a museum in Lisbon. Walking in, I assumed it was about a milk cooperative, instead it turned out to be about arguably the first social institution in Portugal providing neo natal care for young mothers and babies. #museumSky #Lisbon

My first Satyajit Ray watch! We don’t slice of life movies these days and the movie scratched that itch. The relationship between son and mother, a young boy breaking from the familial profession and finding his feet is all so relatable, with the exception of using a sundial for time. #filmSky

I watched yet another fantastic film as part of the month’s theme “movie within a movie”. Sherlock Jr. is a silent movie (44mjns) about a goofy guy who is studying *hard* to be a detective while working as a movie operator. Excellent film sequences and physical comedy. 🍿 YouTube #filmsky

This entire month my local theatre is playing “movie within a movie” - an excellent theme I must admit. I got to watch Masculin Feminin, a classic Jean Luc-Godard (my first!). It was intelligent, funny and at times very slice of life at times. #filmsky
