They couldn't be bothered to write anything for Legacy/Vintage? That's so incredibly funny, especially given the last dozen articles seemed to be months (sometimes years) out of date... Good changes for Standard, but not having *anything* in writing for Legacy/Vintage is really disappointing.

Two Hobbit prereleases later - 'twas good fun, but probably not a set I'd be interested in drafting. Ended up with a 1st place flawless 3-0 for first place running BUG landfall, followed by a 4th place 2-1 with BG good-stuff.

Got to play some more vintage cube this weekend - ended up going 2-1 with a kinda-okay bant control/value deck with Nadu combo + Thoracle, and Natural Order + Craterhoof. Got to draw two more cards for my efforts! 😊

Got to play vintage cube with some old friends and new faces today! Went 2-1 with a sweet UB reanimator deck (really should have had Iona in the main). Reward for winning was getting to draw card art - made sure to add some fun sketches to the cube!

#Moxtober2025 - Day 6: Prism Sunburst is really cool, and I think there's a tonne of unexplored design space with the mechanic. This design takes advantage of Rule 702.44c to create a little colorless uncommon that incentivises multicolour decks.

A custom MTG card: Arcbound Familiar. 3 for a 2/2 fox artifact creature. Its text reads: "Hideaway—Sunburst (When this creature enters, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is the number of colors of mana spent to cast it. Exile one card face down, then put the rest on the bottom in a random order.)" and "When this creature dies, put the exiled card into its owner’s hand."

#Moxtober2025 - Day 5: Moon [Blood Moon]-style effects are contentious, but they have to exist for the health of the game, especially in eternal formats. I love the design space of stun counters, especially as costs. I think this card would be pushed at 2mv, but I could be convinced this is white?

#Moxtober2025 - Day 4: Quartet Delirium is an incredible ability word - it's so thoughtful and really invites you to experiment and be clever with your deckbuilding. I'd love to explore some tension with this - I'm sure the design space is very limited, but as a one-off...

#Moxtober2025 - Day 3: Wish I love wish effects. I adore them. One of my favourite cards of all time is [Mages' Contest], so why not marry the two? It's far too much text. [Wheel of Misfortune] is slightly easier to understand, so let's use that instead.

A custom MTG card - Firefiend's Wish. 1R for a Sorcery that reads "Each player may reveal a card they own from outside the game and exile it. Each player who exiled a card secretly chooses a number 0 or greater, then those players reveal those numbers simultaneously. Firefiend’s Wish deals damage equal to the highest number to each player that chose that number. For as long as the exiled cards remain in exile, those players may cast them and spend mana of any type to cast them."

#Moxtober2025 - Day 2: Meditation My first thought was a blink effect - a pause, a break. I liked the idea of making it a symmetric effect to provide both some utility and downside - blink an attacker, but your opponent gets an ETB trigger.

A custom MTG card: Moonlight Exhalation. 2W for an Instant that reads "Each player exiles a nontoken creature they control. At the beginning of the next end step, return each creature exiled this way to the battlefield under its owner’s control." Its flavour text reads "Tamiyo often brought companions on her excursions to the Heron Moon."

#Moxtober2025 - Day 1: Rabbit I know MaRo and other designers have said that Xerex is a difficult plane to design around, but I'm fond of the idea of 'counting' being a theme. Rabbits hop and bounces, and so I've married the two ideas together.
