A little bit of news and why I’ve been quiet for the last few months…

I’m dealing with some serious health issues beyond my thyroid. I’m keeping it quiet for now until it’s done and over with—and hopefully I’ll have good news to share then.

In the meantime, I’ve been held up by my husband, neighbors who’ve become friends, and friends who’ve become family. I wish I could say the same about my actual family… but, well, that’s not the reality.

Some doctors and well-meaning folks have suggested I tap into social resources or even reach out to “influencers” in my industry who share similar experiences. And what I’ve learned is this: some people make their illness their entire online identity. Daily symptom updates. Public medication breakdowns. A whole persona built around it.

That’s just not me.

I keep things close to my chest and keep moving forward quietly.

For those of you who’ve asked, “What can I do?” — all I can honestly confirm is that prayers work. Truly.

And if you feel moved to gift me something (because Christmas, Three Kings Day, or my 2/2 birthday), please know that books or magazines are always welcome.

Renewing my LACMA, AMC, or American Cinematheque memberships would absolutely make my heart jump with joy. And if you’re still unsure what will make me smile, I can be found on Venmo at @analydia.

All this to say: you truly have no idea what battles someone is fighting—especially the ones who choose not to broadcast it. Loud vulnerability isn’t the only kind of strength, and silence doesn’t mean absence of struggle.

Grace costs nothing. Assume less. Be kind.

And… We also have a picky cat… Macy Louie Monaco, who’s four, eats a very specific $2 can of food, about $1 in daily kibble, $40 monthly vitamins, $30 on insurance, $3ish for her monthly water filters, $100+ on litter… So, basically, we spend a grand a month on these two bratty furry babies…

I just realized that we spend over $500+ a month on Maya Candice Monaco, our 12 yo Boston terrier: $100 insurance $150 food $150+ on her meds and vitamins $30+ treats and doggy bags $100 grooming This is a MONTH and doesn’t include her bimonthly allergy shot, blood work, vet visits, vaccines…

After a great brunch, now to run errands before I head home to write, sweep and mop, and do two loads of laundry… And in between all the *stuff* I finally found a “personal ornament” to hang in our “team” Xmas tree. We stopped by our fave NY Style pizza spot for a slice of pie, then a candy shop. Japanese Kit Kat $17, Dr Pepper Cotton Candy $8. I didn’t get either. The hubs stocked up and snacked on the sweets as we walked around looking at Xmas lights then beelined to Ulta. $30 for 3 Benefit minis? Yes. 3 🧵
