Are photographs of Japan, taken by westerners (mostly tourists), a form of orientalism?

August 2025 - Seattle More Auto 110 pictures on hand rolled Kodak Gold. If you shoot an Auto 110, you should really try re filling a cartridge. You can use whatever film you want and the frame size is larger. 📷 #auto110 🎞️ #kodakgold200 #110film #seattle #bulkrolled

September 2025 - Seattle I’m still figuring out the 6x7. I’m loving the results so far and I also feel like I’m not using it to it’s full potential. It’s hard to make progress when you only get ten shots. 📷 #pentax6x7 🎞️ #ilfordxp2 #filmphotography #120film #blackandwhitephotography

August 2025 - SODO, Seattle I went on an evening walk with a friend through SODO. The light was nice. I don’t recommend Kodak Gold for night photography but I’ve had some good results with longer shutter speeds. 📷 #yashicamatlm #tlr 🎞️ #kodakgold200 #filmphotography #120film #seattle

I’ve decided that I’m not going to submit work to shows or zines or whatever if the organizers won’t send a simple email to say you weren’t selected. It’s rude and lazy. We live in 2025, there’s no excuse.

August 2025 - Seattle Waterfront From the Seattle Toy Camera Club meet up in August. I say it all the time, when the Holga 135 works, it works. It also plays well with flash. 📷 #holga135 🎞️ #kodakgold200 #toycamera #holga #35mmfilm #seattlewaterfront

I’m getting better at using the Pentax 6x7. It’s presented some challenges by being heavy and not having a split prism. I’m excited to see more results. Lab tech: Eric, since I don’t have BW chemistry. 📷 #pentax6x7 🔭 #105mm 🎞️ #ilford #kentmere400 #filmphotography

John from The Find Lab in Utah came to Seattle a few weeks ago. He hosted an outdoor with flash portrait workshop. His set up was so simple and effective. You should have seen the look on his face when I pulled out a 135 #Holga loaded with #HarmanPhoenix200. And yet! It worked wonderfully.

I went on an actual vacation to NYC last month. The first stop was a photo lab and I got #PhoenixII there. I used an Olympus XA (which I’m still thinking about selling). I like the results from the film. They’re softer than the original Phoenix and I’m excited to experiment more.

I think I’m in this constant churn of indecision about keeping the Pentax 17. I’ve had it since September. I’m using it for a project rn but still feels kinda odd. I guess it’s easy to do nothing and just keep it for now. The tactile experience of it is really unsatisfying.

April 2025 - Seattle I'm not sure why people are so down on Phoenix all the time. Yeah, it's got a look, but it's not the weird hellscape I keep seeing on reddit. I literally just camera scanned this and used a built in preset in NLP. 📷 #nikonfe 🔭 #50mm 🎞️ #HarmanPhoenix #filmphotography
