It's great that she wants to rehab herself, but that means coming clean on EVERYTHING. Not holding back on things that are personally damaging. If we let this kind of stuff slide, we're messaging that we don't care about explaining Jan 6. The lie will still fester. It has to be cauterized.

I've watched her video about Jan 6 - she is definitely being evasive, and she never, ever mentions she was with Posobiec. As though that is something to hide.

Ashley hasn't been 100% forthcoming about her Jan 6 activities. She was at the Capitol with Jack Posobiec, who had been up on the roof of 101 Constitution where OAN and InfoWars rented broadcast space. Reporters must press her on that - what she knew, why they ran from the Capitol, where they went.

The outfllux will be even worse if Trump is allowed to restrict student visas to 4 years, longer than PhD students take to finish. Reporters are just asleep on this, even the science reporters. Or they're naively assuming everything will be OK, some grownup will step in to fix it.

Yes, Oregon pre-Jan 6 was kind of practice. And on Jan 6 there was in fact a half-hearted attempt to get people outside DC to storm their state Capitols, which didn't work because people don't do get up and do something violent just from reading social media. Without organization, it fizzled.

Brooks Brothers to Jan 6 is an important through-line but the details matter and people don't want to do the work to see them. It was Brook Brothers --> TCF Center --> realizing that simply calling people to show up and riot was not going to work. And THAT'S how people moved to planning Jan 6.

This is willfully obtuse. We should support the anti-fascist party to provide momentum, model behavior for people in swing states, & boost the popular vote total. In 2024 anyone with a pulse and a conscience should have been worried about fascism and doing everything in their capacity to fight it.

Jerks have been with us since the dawn of time. Societies with the most health & well-being are generally the ones who learned how to undermine their cranks, & keep them from gathering power. Not the ones who ignored them. Or patronized them. So let's make them own their choices. Like adults.

Social media didn't make it so cranks could "finally find each other." Social media made it so YOU could find them. Cranks already had whole media ecosystems for that, and found ripe audiences virtually everywhere.

Satsuma, Jar, 1860, Japan
Sculpted in the naturalistic form of a plump eggplant (nasu), this late Edo-period ceramic vessel rests with quiet, organic grace, its swollen body crowned by a intricately molded, rough-textured calyx and arching stem that forms the opening. The vessel features a deep aubergine and bronze-toned glaze, illuminated by an iridescent copper sheen that shifts across its fine, spiderweb-like crackle (kannyu). The object conveys a rich sensory atmosphere: the cool, weighty feel of fired Satsuma clay, the tactile contrast between the knobby, matte stem and the glassy smooth curve of the body, the subtle earthy scent of aged earthenware, and the tranquil stillness of a traditional alcove (tokonoma) housing a treasured seasonal object.

Crafted in Japan around 1860 during the Bakumatsu period, this vessel exemplifies the playful sophistication of Satsuma ware (Satsuma-yaki). Beyond its sculptural charm, the eggplant holds deep cultural resonance in Japanese tradition, particularly within the tea ceremony (chanoyu), where eggplant-shaped tea caddies (nasu cha-ire) have been prized by connoisseurs since the Sengoku and Edo periods. The vegetable is also celebrated as an auspicious symbol (engimono)—featured in the famous New Year's proverb Ichi-Fuji, ni-taka, san-nasu (First Fuji, second hawk, third eggplant)—and associated with accomplishment due to the linguistic homophone nasu (成す, meaning to achieve or bear fruit).
