Fantastic run + commentary!! 100% same on ME3 multiplayer, I have hundreds of hours in it and still think it's the best co-op shooter ever made 😌 I'm so sad they didn't include it in the legendary edition, though I recently found out the servers are still up if you buy the og version on steam!

that there's some sort of inherent difference or rivalry between AAA and indie devs. lots of people go back and forth (or want to). obviously some exceptions to this, but for the most part whether you're working AAA/AA/indie is mainly based on happenstance, circumstance, or who will pay your bills

You can draw a direct path from Orson Welles -> David Lynch -> Hideo Kojima, not only in their works but in their respective love for the mysteries and legends propagated around their art, the impish self-mythologizing of it all. Wonderful to see this explored in relation to P.T. and SILENT HILLS!

This is one of the best video essays I've ever seen. On games, film, art history, and the ship of Theseus that has become P.T. I am also extremely validated that someone else has drawn a connection between this game and F FOR FAKE (one of my all-time fave movies) + by extension, Kojima and Welles.

Ngl, it was a LOT of work, but we firmly believed that having this level of customization in our game was the right thing to do and wouldn't compromise on having a range of body types. We were immensely proud of the results and so grateful for how folks embraced that aspect of the game.

Because RV was an online melee combat game with grappling, our gameplay and animation teams worked tirelessly (spearheaded by @delriach.bsky.social) to ensure that every body type played exactly the same, so that there were no weird visual bugs or questions of viability for any body type.

Congrats Andy!!! I've long been of the opinion that Criterion/DICE is doing some of the best AAA/AAAA storytelling around, I don't think they get enough credit for the narrative sophistication of Battlefield 1 or Battlefront 2. Super excited to see what you're working on!!
