The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in January on President Donald Trump's request to be able to remove Lisa Cook from her position as a governor on the Federal Reserve Board. The court's order means that Cook will remain in office for now. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

Nothing on the TikTok case on today's order list, which deals with petitions for review that the justices considered at their conference last Friday. We don't know when the court will act on the TikTok case, although the court has indicated that it will issue opinions in argued cases on Wed am.

The Supreme Court has denied President-elect Donald Trump's bid to halt his criminal sentencing, scheduled for tomorrow morning in a New York state trial court. Four justices -- Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh -- indicate that they would have granted his request.

Oops! The Supreme Court on Monday morning clarified that in Catholic Charities' challenge to Wisconsin's denial of a religious tax exemption, it will only consider that issue and not a second question related to the standard of proof.

The Supreme Court dismissed a securities fraud case, NVIDIA v. E. Ohman J:Or Fonder AB, without ruling on the merits of the case. The case was argued in mid-November. Nothing else from the court today.

The Supreme Court on Friday afternoon added 3 new cases (2 of which will be argued together) to its docket for the 2024-25 term: Rivers v. Lumpkin, Fuld v. PLO, & United States v. PLO. More orders from the justices' private conference are expected on Monday morning at 9:30 am.

The Supreme Court's calendar indicates that the court is likely to issue opinions next Tuesday morning at 10 am. So far this term the justices have only issued one ruling in an argued case, dismissing a securities law case without deciding the merits of the dispute.

Supreme Court issued orders from last week's private conference. No new grants (b/c the justices added two new cases to their docket on Friday). Once again, the Court did not act on high-profile petitions for review involving "buffer zones" at abortion clinics & trans athletes on sports teams.

Quiet day today at the Supreme Court. The justices dismissed a securities law case involving Facebook and the 2015 Cambridge Analytica data breach as "improvidently granted." Case was argued on Nov. 6.
