The space would be no less profound for me www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...bbc.co.ukOxford ceremony marks return home of kiwi feather cloakThe kahu kiwi, given to a British doctor in 1900, was "crying to come home", Māori campaigners say. 18781216

Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 06/08/2026…it specifically frames this from the perspective of black communities, and how they are afforded either excellence or downfall with no in between, and how this ignores the actual work and effort of those people a very interesting way to explore these kind of questions 010
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 06/08/2026I listened to a great podcast today that speaks to this - Humans episode ‘the inauthenticity of authenticity’. It discusses how authenticity is in the eye of the beholder, and how different kinds of authenticity are given to different types of people… 110

Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Tbh (I’ll stop after this) it’s a confusing article that doesn’t really explain the study, and doesn’t really explain the talking therapies either. Lots going on all at once…still interesting though 000
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026also (may have misunderstood sorry, hope I’m not mansplaining) I don’t think it’s a metaphor when they talk about restructuring the brain, the oxygenation demonstrates the formation of new neurons and neuro plasticity across pathways in the brain, indicating how new beliefs are formed (or not) 110
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026This is because it’s much cheaper to treat groups vs individuals, and EMDR clinicians are expensive (e.g very few per NHS trust). Interestingly the source they reference for ‘other treatment options’ says the comparison of group CBT efficacy to individual or other therapy types is not explored 100
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026I have lots of thoughts on this…to me it’s bizarre they don’t mention EMDR which is a therapy that specifically unlocks the ‘stuck’ pathways and enables people to talk. Within the NHS there is a push to move away from EMDR and towards the group therapy they mention 100
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Same here - I moved away and managed for a few years of medical school. Very soon realised I was going to have to relocate nearly every year for the next 5 years, which was incredibly daunting and unsustainable for me, and honestly part of the reason I left 100
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026!!!! What an amazing cohort. Completely agree the article seems like another way to bash non-Russel Groups, and to drive the agenda of reduced value/funding in higher education…infuriating and so disrespectful to all the staff and students involved 030
Amy Hall @amyh4ll97.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Also to say the idea of constantly moving around and relocating as a feasible and affordable option is very much a middle/upper class perspective. For working class people the costs of moving alone can be totally unrealistic 110
