This starting with an exam episode like 365 did is evil because it's given me secondhand stress both times lmao

The "yuri is male gaze" debate becomes gut-bustingly hilarious once you realize that, more often than not, the genre is created by female mangaka sitting at their desks like:

From the afterword of I Love You So Much, I Hate You by Yuni

Natsume is kind of like Ayano YuruYuri except she's a tsundere for the most already taken girl imaginable, very tragic

Although it uses the nine red squares for the saving symbol which is obviously more subtle but possibly even more egregious than when Pyramid Head shows up unrelated to James (Although Silent Hill reusing imagery in a different context can potentially be neat so this decision could redeem itself)

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Despite entirely different gameplay and setting this is so far ticking a lot of very specific boxes of what defines silent hill to me while avoiding just rehashing 1-4

Playing Silent Hill Townfall, incredible mood so far

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

She may be more well adjusted than James but Heather is still a Silent Hill protagonist, she'd absolutely jump into a mysterious bottomless hole if it looked mildly inviting

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

This just has some insanely whacky presentation sometimes. In the span of 15 seconds we go from the characters all with different color hair than usual, to the title, to lineup that zooms into Sae and shows the name of her VA

Can someone sell me on why Rondo of Blood is so many people's favorite linear Castlevania game. I do like it! But I think 4 has more fun moment to moment gameplay and incredible atmosphere, Bloodlines has more interesting level themes and 3 has such wonderful art direction.

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Actually maybe I should play that this month so I can call Keiichiro Toyama the goat more often (and someday I'll play my Slitterhead collectors edition)

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Good luck, I haven't even finished Siren myself cause it's STRESSFUL (although it doesn't really matter how much survival horror experience you have, the difficulty comes more from very punishing stealth and escort missions)

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Only issue I have is the music is LAME. Would be fine for a later more atmospheric part but the first area of a Castlevania game should be about hyping you up to go beat the crap out of Dracula, needs way more energy.

Amycola @amycola.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Finally played the new Castlevania demo. I was worried cause I saw a lot of dooming on the timeline but honestly this is pretty great. The visuals are gorgeous, the colorful backgrounds feel very Castlevania 3 inspired. Combat is fast but still has the rigid weightiness this series should have.
