For his first birthday, I made an invite “Come. Sit. Stay.” Our friends came over for brunch. They brought their dogs who ran around the yard. I served carrot ginger soup, egg casserole, and for dessert we had a massive coconut cake from the Peninsula Grill.

I made this apple cake #recipe yesterday. I didn’t peel the apples, I used salted butter, I didn’t use the rum, but I did add an extra teaspoon of vanilla. There was more apple than cake and it was delicious!

It’s truly the easiest thing, and so yummy. I have been making that recipe for years, and at some point she changed it to “oil free.” I still start the onion/garlic in evoo - and toast the spices in it before I add beans/broth. It’s lovely served with a scoop of basmati rice too.
