There can be no reconciliation without truth. Believe survivors. Listen to the truth. Learn. 🧡 And make sure it is never minimized or forgotten.
Memorial image for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation showing a pair of small, worn, beaded moccasins in the foreground, with many other children’s shoes blurred behind them. Large text reads: “Remembering the Indigenous children who were taken and never returned. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.” An orange feather appears beside the text.Orange graphic with a black-and-white portrait of Duncan Campbell Scott. Large white text quotes him as saying: “It is readily acknowledged that Indian children lose their natural resistance to illness by habituating so closely in the residential schools, and that they die at a much higher rate than in their villages. But this alone does not justify a change in the policy of this Department, which is geared towards a final solution of our Indian problem.” The quote is attributed to Duncan Campbell Scott, 1910. Smaller text states that Scott was Superintendent of Indian Education from 1909 to 1913 and Deputy Superintendent General of Indian Affairs from 1913 to 1932.Square poster for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. At the top it reads, “September 30 • National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.” In the centre, large red script says, “Every Métis Child Matters.” Below is the message: “For the children who were silenced, for the languages they were punished for speaking, for the families who carried the pain, and for the survivors whose stories must be heard. We remember. We honour. We will not forget. Every Child Matters.” The design has a warm parchment background, Métis infinity symbols and floral beadwork motifs, red poppies, and a bison standing at sunset.Historic sepia photograph labeled “Coqualeetza, c. 1890,” showing a large group of Indigenous children and several adults posed outside a brick residential school building. An orange banner at the top reads “National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.”

SENS has posted the full candidates’ forum!💚 There are definitely things I’d do differently next time, but that's how we learn. Thanks to SENS, everyone who attended, & everyone who contributed thoughtful questions. Democracy is better when real people show up! www.sensociety.org/news/2026-se...

Hey, Bluesky denizens (esp. in BC). Show some love to one of our own: Amy Klassen, who is running for Vernon city council. Even if you don't live in Vernon, you can still help shift the cosmic balance in the right direction by contributing to her campaign! She's a good'un (IMHO). amy4vernon.ca

So... I did it! My first ever forum. I was absolutely terrified up there. Looking out from that stage, I was wildly outside my comfort zone. I did it anyway. Heart pounding. Brain buffering. Many awkward moments. But I got through it. I’m glad I showed up. Democracy matters. Representation matters.✊🏻

Looking forward to this event! A healthy environment and climate resilience are connected to every aspect of life. Housing, infrastructure, water, transportation, affordability & our natural environment don’t exist in silos. The decisions we make in one area affect all the others. #vernonBC
