I hope we continue to get the good version of Manny throughout the playoffs. I miss having to begrudgingly respect his talent.

Stammen ended year one at +6

I unironically believe that Craig Stammen should win NL Manager of the Year.

Craig Stammen’s gonna text Mike Shildt “I thought 90 wins was supposed to be hard to do.”

I’m sure he doesn’t care, and neither should we, but since it looks like all the starters are getting tomorrow off, it’s kind of a bummer that Tatis ending his season with tonight’s game drops his fWAR below 5.5, his OPS below .830, and his wRC+ below 130.

Gotta make Mize wear it and throw 100 pitches tonight to give the bullpen a rest.

It’s unfortunate that I’m pessimistic about the Padres’ chances of winning this series despite trying to be more optimistic about the team overall.

If the leads aren’t 13 years old then Eggers is a fraud and the Olde English will just be obnoxious (I will still watch it, though).

I don’t have anything against Feige, but Mahershala clearly does, and I respect his conviction in making sure everyone knows it.

Hot take?: Samantha Morton was the only cast member who delivered an awards-worthy performance in The Odyssey.

Padres ranked 14 out of 15, with the worst starting rotation of any team in the NL playoff field. Hopefully the offense can stay hot.

I’m an advocate of winning the division guaranteeing a playoff spot but seeding being dictated by regular season record. What’s going on in the American League ahead of CBA talks could probably facilitate that becoming a reality.

One of these days we’re going to find out what a sketchy-ass life David Ortiz lives in the DR and nobody will be surprised except for Red Sox fans and the guys who voted him into the Hall of Fame.

I would say the Musgrove contract was good process, bad results, and expecting Joe to forfeit his salary for getting hurt is absolutely ridiculous.

Arte sold to someone competent. Exciting news for Angels fans and should probably put the Padres organization on high alert.

Taking into consideration that José Feliciano is technically the Control Person, listing Kwanza Jones’ name first in the announcement is a total Wife Guy move. Good on them.

How many bad starts is Robbie Ray allowed to have before the trade for him is considered a flop regardless of how Hernandez turns out?

adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
Kiley updated his prospect lists after the deadline. Here’s his blurb on Joniel Hernandez, who Preller traded to SF for three months of Robbie Ray:

I don’t trust Preller to not call up Salas this season, which strategically speaking would be as stupid as having traded him at the deadline.
330
adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Putting it all together, Preller couldn’t land a LHH at the deadline because: 1) he didn’t want to trade productive players from the ML roster. 2) he couldn’t find a taker for Bogaerts in a contract swap. 3) Salas is the only meaningfully desirable prospect still in the system.

adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Mayfield 45+ Hernandez 45 Mendez 40 Wolf 35 45+ FV would put Mayfield in the Top 150 conversation which we already knew. 45 FV for Hernandez is very bullish for a 17 yr old who hasn’t made his stateside debut. It’s basically a late first round grade and would rank him at 3 or 4 in the farm system.

I like when we trade a player I’ve never heard of for a player I’ve never heard of.
130
adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
I think Preller made a mistake in not selling or even reshuffling the roster, and trading Jionel Hernandez within the division could really come back to bite the Padres (not Preller, who will be fired by then) in the ass, but he made the rotation better for this year so I guess mission accomplished.
160
adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Yeah at these prices Preller had to have had zero intention of even shuffling the roster. No finesse at all.
100
adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Preller is finding himself without the necessary assets to improve his roster.
220
adam @amsullinger.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Based on how good some of these guys are vs what they’re being traded for, I actually think Preller priced his guys correctly. Problem for him is it seems most team’s will pay the price for “very good” but consider “elite” to be unnecessary luxuries.
