anyways, all this to say, i'm not excited for cocomelon the movie to be the single most profitable movie ever made.

but the monoculture does exist in one place. the theater. indie movies have much less of a market than indie television and video games. blockbusters have become the modern driver of monoculture. that's why sonic is so big among the youth rn. it sure as fuck wasn't sonic frontiers.

ever since quinton reviews talked about the "death of the monoculture" in his victorious videos, i've been thinking about the concept and entirely taken the stance that, yeah, it's over. but the monoculture still exists. it's just that the concept no longer extends to *everything* like it used to.
