I decided to build something for about 50 people on the planet, maybe less... www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.ph... It's a chess variant game on the C128 in GEOS. Yes. You read that right. And if you are one of ~10 people that has a SuperCPU 128? It'll be about 10x a better engine (2mhz vs 20mhz).

Photo of my C128's A1902 CRT monitor displaying my game "Chess Attack 128" which is a chess game on a small 6x6 chess board where each game you and your opponent get a whole new assortment of pieces, mirrored.

Closeup of the right-panel of Chess Attack 128 where I'm currently displaying your system's stats (mainly for testing purposes but I might keep some of it, as it's kinda cool).

Comparison of the original Chess Attack chess pieces I designed, and the updates I needed to make when I switched from vector art to blocky 16x16 (later scaled up to 24x24) pieces.

CMD (Creative Micro Designs) made a 3-button programmable mouse with a built in Real-time clock (hello, GEOS) in the 90s for C64/C128 computers? Yes, yes they did. The CMD SmartMouse. And it’s great. Fully 1351 AND 1350 compatible. But that 3rd button + RTC are the really the remarkable features.

Bird's eye view of the SmartMouse with 3 buttons.

Today’s vintage vibes: camping in the 1986 Westy reading Zork “choose your own adventure” books. Yes, these books are for kids but at the moment I don’t care. My C64 gives me similar nostalgia at times.

You know how some say little kids, and dogs, often like the packaging over the toys inside? Well, maybe they are not alone. And look at that C64 in all its prolific business software application glory!

Another view of the box of the Floppy Disk Organizer, this time with the lid closed sitting next to the same C64, with the power off.

Instruction paperwork for using dividers in the box, in CASE it isn't obvious.

Just got this photo of the Mindlight in action in 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia from a warehouse party with the band Flatbush. No direct Mindlight image here but the screen behind the guy (you can see a piece of the large black screen at the far-right) was "driving wild Mindlight 7 animation."

Dark photo of a young man working the keyboard of an Amiga 500. He was manipulating a Mindlight 7 (not seen in the photo) which was projecting animated to-the-beat graphics onto a large screen which can be partially seen behind him.

This is one-part terrifying and one-part exciting. I was fortunate to buy a PPC Cyberstorm for my A3000. I already have an 060 Cyberstorm, but not the PPC version. Curiosity killed the cat, I guess. That means I need to some minor surgery. But first, a loving glance and speed test.

Photo of my incredibly beefed up Amiga 3000 that sports a 19" LCD display via zz9000 HDMI card, Cyberstorm 060 card, half-gb silly amounts of RAM, etc. The LCD is a beige NEC that displays a background image painting of Rachel from Blade Runner on the desktop. The walls are awash in red and blue lighting from some LED strips I have under the desk.

Good ol' (bad ol') SysInfo, which does show my Internal Hardware Modes correctly with the 060 CPU in use.

Such a legend. Ms. Heineman will be sorely missed but not forgotten by those who were lucky enough to play the games she helped create. Bard's Tale, Wasteland, Dragon Wars, Tass Times and several important Mac ports. It was such an honor and a pleasure meeting her in 2018. RIP, Becky.

I had the honor of meeting Becky at a signing table at PRGE in 2018. All I wanted was a photo. Naturally, she couldn't help herself from giving me rabbit ears. She was so happy and kind.

Don't think I've said this in 20 years, but I really wish I hadn't updated Macos to Tahoe 26. Not only does it look to be a janky mess, but the performance is degraded. I can disable the glass via the Terminal which brings the performance back, but then important menubar icons vanish. It sucks.

just one example of the new macos shitshow that never, ever should have shipped. The worst part is the ridiculous performance his this unsightly mess causes - esp. with Electron-based apps.

Just a small sampling of some real family photos hanging on the bathroom wall of an Italian restaurant in Seattle. And to think Portland likes to own the tagline, “Keep Portland Weird.” ❤️ Seattle

Family portrait in the mall photographer "Olan Mills" style of the 1980-1990s where each family member is wearing an outfit from Star Trek the Next Generation. Blue, yellow and red shirts are represented.

Amazing photo of a woman in a red shirt with tightly permed yellow hair wearing large glasses is holding a young child on her lap with large glasses in a red shirt with curly blonde hair. Incredibly creepy.

Very strange portrait of a man in a suit and a woman in a nice striped dress surrounded by various muppets and ventriloquist puppets, as if the puppers comprise their family.

Incredible photo composition where a main with a comb-over wearing large glasses looking into the distance from the 1970s or 1980s fills the frame. His family (presumably his wife and three kids) are super-imposed over his head like thoughts in his mind.
