Just got back from our first UK trip. We found our local US breweries, as opposed to bars, to be much closer in feel to British pubs. Food options, drink limits, family friendly—not things I associate with bars.
The Inn/pub thing is not to be ignored. Often the bar itself was the lobby/check-in.
