I am writing my Senators about Chuck Schumer. If you want a Democratic party that fights, I suggest you do too. I'm expecting bullshit whining and excuses from my Senators. But that's what primaries are for.

I am writing to you today with significant concern for Chuck Schumer's leadership in the Senate. In numerous interviews, he has demonstrated a myopic addiction for working with a fantasy version of a Republican party. There is a clear longing nostalgia for an opposition party that can be collaborated with in good faith, and I believe strongly that it is clouding his judgment on how to properly act. I understand the desire for Democrats and Republicans to come together and work together-- that is something we all wish for. But this presumes that all actors are acting in good faith. Time and time again, Republicans under Trump's leadership are clearly demonstrating a lack of good faith. It is time for leadership that recognizes this fact and acts accordingly. Chuck Schumer desires a Republican that acts in good faith, as we all do, but is operating on a reality that does not currently exist. He either needs to adjust his judgment or-- likely failing that-- must step aside as leader. These are unprecedented times. It is time our leadership acts accordingly and stops daydreaming about a Republican party that does not exist in its current form.
