Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 10/05/2025What if you arrived home and found a stranger had commandeered your house? This is Not Your House is a super neat little VN. Great concept, wacky branches. Third person prose with second person choices is jarring but beyond that this is fun and scary. store.steampowered.com/app/3139140/... 000 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/02/2025And we return to Buenos Aires! There was less lesbian vampirism here than I'd hoped for, but still an excellent meditation on death with a nice gloomy atmosphere. 100 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Read the above so fast that I had to pick up a new book in the airport. Read it in one go. Haven't done that with something novel length since my teens. Another very honest book, with criticism leveled as Kuang's own writing used in the story. Prose is delightfully restrained compared to Babel. 100 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Best book I've read in a long time. Ever, even? Rumfitt doesn't pull her punches and is unflinchingly honest with her empathetic and complex characters. The horror elements are shocking, but the novel is so well constructed that it feels earned. Take the content warning seriously. 100 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Read this in a morning with a cuppa before my partner was even out of bed. Novellas are a gift to this world. Maybe it's a house that eats men, maybe it's generational trauma. Wonderful stuff. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/02/2025This collection leans more on social realism than The Dangers of Smoking In Bed. Would have liked to see more horror but still a fantastic read. I love Enriquez's sparse yet evocative style. Big inspiration for my current IF project. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Recent reads! Continued my South American horror phase, took a detour via Brighton and Spain, then picked up something totally different. Thoughts in 🧵. 100 0

Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 23/12/2024Reads for the long train journey and week back home 🏴. Seems a perfect opportunity to get into a chunky hard sci-fi book, plus I'll finally get to see what the cult of McKee is all about. It's one of those craft books I've had on the tbr for ages. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 22/12/2024Last two reads courtesy of 1b books in Heaton! One was so enjoyable that it inspired me to write, the other was so well written that it made me sad to think I'll never be that good. Both offered perspectives new to me which was a delight. 000 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 21/12/2024Well the Yule log failed to burn because of the wind--hopefully not a bad omen for 2025! The food was great tho 😋 030 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 21/12/2024As Dusk Falls was so good! One book was the perfect length (3 ish hrs?) for our Yule play session. Writing was spot on. Totally impressed. 130 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 20/12/2024I don't think line level is really where my writing shines, but I really enjoyed writing Leah's breathless and rambling style of speech for my last play. 000 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 20/12/2024Last day of work doesn't feel like much to me given I've only been in the job a month, but celebrating anyway by going to a birthday party in the dress that I'm OBSESSED with. 020 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 24/11/2024Having a great time in Liverpool! Fantastic food plus two hippie shops ...the dream! 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Making the most of my last week of unemployment! Walk in the woods plus some banger vegan street food. The chai was to die for! 140 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 17/11/2024Another lovely day out! Fiancé and I got tacos then went to the indie bookshop in Heaton. Continuing my South American horror kick 😊 020 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 17/11/2024"It'd not exactly practical to strangle a dead person, but a girl can't be desperate and reasonable at the same time." Just finished The Dangers of Smoking in Bed by Mariana Enriquez. Fantastic stuff. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 17/11/2024Day out with the girlies yesterday ❤️ good food and trying on clothes that I can't afford (that I bought anyway 🙈) 020 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/11/2024View from my daily walk :) feel very grateful to live near so much nature! 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/11/2024Forgot to take a photo of all the food before we dug in last night but thought my home made naans tuned out not half bad! 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 28/10/2024Haven't been on here in an age and I come back to 22 new followers and this mysterious message. So hey new folks!👋 Might do a little techno-horror based on this weird message as my writing exercise today. 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/09/2024Love this! We can view the timeline and restart from any point. 100 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/09/2024That was ace! Highly recommend. Might have to get the full game. Next is...Love too Easily. This is an interactive k-drama with minigames. I backed it on Kickstarter but never got around to playing. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/09/2024First of all LOVE these difficulty mods. I'm notoriously crap at any game actually involving skill so this makes me happy. Going to try it at default but will be turning these on eventually I reckon. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/09/2024Next up is El Paso, Nightmare. No idea what this is about but I freaking loved Clickholding by the same dev (Strange Scaffold) so I have high hopes. Apparently it's a spin-off of the main game which I don't own? 120 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/09/2024First up is Fingerbones. I think this is a horror walking sim of some sort? I have no idea when I bought this. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 13/09/2024Most recent read. A utopian vision of preventing climate change via socialist planning, rewilding and veganism. It's made me want to try my hand at some utopian fiction a la Le Guin when I'm done with some other projects. The antidote to my cyberpunk writing - inspiring stuff! 160 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 25/07/2024Added some achievements today and really thinking about them not as little trophies or extras but as a spoiler-free guide for the game. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 21/07/2024Elongated words like this are getting on my nerves. Reminds me of John Gardener's common errors. His "third amateur sin" is "funny-looking dialogue". I didn't intend to make like, a hate thread, but here we are I guess. Idk so many people have told me this is good! I'm waiting for it to get good! 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 01/07/2024Editing today. Every sentence begins with "you". Kill me now...🙃 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 20/06/2024Happy Summer Solstice 🌞🌞🌞 (the 3am alarm was entirely worth it) 020 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 24/05/2024Class went really well earlier this week! Finally playing through my students games this morning. It's really interesting what newcomers bring to the medium. One participant was an author who rewrote one of her short stories to be viewed from three different perspectives which I loved! 020 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 23/05/2024Continuing my denial that I am a writer and not just someone who likes cafes, today I'm in One Strawberry Lane's cute co-working cafe! 120 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 16/05/2024Am I really a writer or do I just like going to cafes? 🤔 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 14/05/2024Went out to get a cute latte with my writing buddy but the fire alarm has been going for for like 15 minutes now...screaming at her about my script 😂 020 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 05/05/2024So like a decade late to the party, but I've finally played something by Porpentine! Wow, that was a trip. With Those We Love Alive has this mechanic where the game asks you to draw sigils on your own body, and it creates this crazy intimacy between the player and the game. 110 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 15/04/2024It may have been too long since I've been into my LCS...my standing order was hefty. 😬 Thankfully I finished the first draft of my play earlier than expected so this and a cup for tea might be my afternoon 😏 000 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 11/04/2024The garbage draft of my short has been done! Such a weight off my shoulders. Now it's red pen time 😈 010 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 31/03/2024Oh tysm! That's too kind. I'm afraid it's going to have to be the pdf copy for me only though...so much for those lovely erasable cards 😭 100 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 30/03/2024Like I know everyone's probably read this a billion times but Sam Kabo Ashwell's post on patterns in choice games is just so so useful. I'm basically giving it verbatim to my students next week 🙈 #interactivefiction heterogenoustasks.wordpress.com/2015/01/26/s... 031 0
Amy Stevens @amesyflo.bsky.social · 29/03/2024Just finished reading 2:22 by Danny Robins. I enjoyed it well enough, had some fabulous tension building and dramatic moments - history and clash of opinion come together to do a lot with only four characters - but I really didn't like the ending! 100 0
