It’s infuriating how much better Opus should have been with just a little more point of view and some bolder writing choices.

Review coming but Opus was a frustrating watch with so many missed opportunities.

My main take from One Of Them Days (except its delayed UK release) is how much of a powerhouse performer Keke Palmer is

I am not sure I need a sequel but very exciting to see these two work with Radio Silence again!

What a show. Thrilling, never boring, cinematic episodes of TV. Sure, it suffers from being very American, but I watched every episode on the edge of my seat. Sterling K Brown really is one of the best working and James Marsden is so so charming

But I also showed my friend Thelma. What a gem of a film, one my favourites from last year. Funny, charming, cathartic... It's on Sky Cinema/ Now in the UK and really is worth a watch.

Flight Risk has to be one of the worst films I have seen in a while. I did laugh solidly at the last 20 minutes though. I don't think I was supposed to but I was amused.

Such a wonderful film about living and not just surviving after grief.

001

Amelia Nancy Harvey @amelianancyharvey.bsky.social · 11/02/2025

Okay, I admit, Celebrity Bear Hunt is a lot of fun, and I am not one for these survival shows. They chose a good cast to win me over.

Absolutely binged Apple Cider Vinegar the weekend. Amazing performance from Kaitlyn Dever and more people need to think about trusting 'influencers' with important things in life.

Is Anora in my top 10 of the year? Nope, but it's pretty fun. Mikey is great, and the script is sharp, but I have always been slightly baffled by the hype. nerdspin.com/anora-review...

I had a lot of fun during Companion, Sophie Thatcher is a star. Also deeply concerned how many people I know would buy one and use it in such a horrible way

The Karla Sofia Gascón stuff is bad, but it's especially bad as she has such a fantastic platform as a trans woman to shine a light on issues and represent the community.

I'll be honest, disappointed by a lot of the Oscar nominations this year. I feel like my opinions really did not line up with voting bodies this year.

Better Man >>> A Complete Unknown. And I say this as someone who listen to far more Bob Dylan than Robbie Williams.

000

Amelia Nancy Harvey @amelianancyharvey.bsky.social · 18/01/2025

A Complete Unknown was not bad and Timothee was great, but I can't help but feel like we have evolved past these Wikipedia entry biopics. As a Dylan and Baez fan, I vibed throughout, but I would at the documentary about the topic

Had to walk out a date last night. Absolute horror of a 25-year-old who hated the fact that I had my own career and would never likely rely on him. Told I was worth nothing 'more than a shag' and that I should rely more on men.

So is the crux of Better Man discourse simply the fact Americans feel films should be made about people they have never heard of? I am fairly sure lots of films are made about topics non US audiences care more about.
