@networkrail.bsky.social Your staff need to enforce the no smoking in Edinburgh Waverley Station. Twice this week I've entered via Calton Road steps, and at the top of the steps (where there are TWO no smoking signs) I've seen various station based staff smoking!

I have to take issue with one line here "Since nationalisation, costs have consistently exceeded ticket sales..." I think you'll find that ScotRail has always needed subsidy from the taxpayer, even when it was a franchise under First Group, Abellio, National Express... or even as part of BR!!

You do have to wonder about some people - despite all the signs and barriers on Restalrig Road i've just watched this red Ford mount the pavement to access the closed area, to realise that the road is blocked, before mounting the other pavement to get out again - this is him coming out.

No. HS2 is the best way of opening up the rail network. The WCML is full, the ECML is also full - believe it or not because freight got moved from the WCML. Theres 2 ways forward upgrade WCML or HS2 and any WCML upgrade to create as much capacity as HS2 will also cost billions, but fewer benefits.
