I love Adam Shand's 'Realistic Wellington Calendar' and have used it as the basis for the rule set for Can You Beat Wellington (@CanYouBeat ). But what it was really missing was a clock hand to tell you where we currently are in the year. So, in honor of being […] [Original post on mastodon.nz]
Adam Shand's Realistic Wellington Weather Calendar. It is a circle, with segments representing the 6 seasons of Wellington: Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring 1, Shitsville and, Spring 2. I've added a clock hand that points to where we are currently in the year and it is now pointing towards 'Shitsville'.

[Naked legs in a tub.] That was a week. A warm soak with a generous application of magnesium sulfate for the soaking water and rye whiskey (mixed 1:2 with cold water) plus a dash of walnut bitters with a touch of maple syrup for the soakee means I’ll unwind […] [Original post on cloudisland.nz]

@Unixbigot the zaps dispelled all sense of disbelief. The coronal discharge images were really cool. Mostly, I just rebelled in soldering a contraption together that a) worked, and b) allowed me to hide in a dark basement for hours at a stretch under Providence Rhode Island with spiders, spirits […]

@Unixbigot I built a #KirlianCamera in the late 20th century. It made fun looking images, but sadly no auras were snapped. 10kV was a bitey twinge on the ground lead alligator clipped to the back of my hand.

Friends, somehow I’ve created a business (small packaging brewery) which is at its most demanding of me in October for the past 5 years. It is a month of 9-day weeks and halfway along the fatigue is starting to mount. Present me is grateful that past me planned a bit better this year and now I […]

So, did you know that #Vital is available for #Linux? An interesting exercise to build the horn patch in #BitwigStudio, but why not make it in Vital and run it as a monophonic voice and get a Tuba, French Horn and 3 Trumpets all going at it? I think this is much closer to what I've been […]

This patch needs some work. There’s too much high end activity and it sounds a bit less brassy and more clown horn to my ears. We’ll see if I can bring it to a happier state.

My #BitwigStudio #Brass explorations continue. There is a fascinating #Vital #Wavetable demo for brass synths that I had been messing with a long while ago, and now that I am better equipped I can make it go in Bitwig using modulators. I need to step away from this for a bit as I in a bit of a […]

I've been continue to dabble with the #UltraAudio #UltraSynth. This time I am created a more limited set of samples to load (4 velocities per octave) and the results sound decent and would likely work as a "processed" horn sound in #Linux. I have also learned heaps about expressive dynamics in […]

The #UltraAudio synth gets cooler and more amazing as I dig into it. I am excited that it is for #Linux ($) now (as well as the two OSes) and haven given some help to determine if I can get French Horns sounding decent (Swam Horn performance in Windows exported across as multi-samples to then […]
