Small addendum: i was in surgery prep for the screw, the nurse i was with saw my list of medications and asked me if I wanted her to put a different name or pronouns on my chart (I wasnt out still). I declined but it was really sweet to be asked. No fuss no anxiety just kindness

Life is funny. I fell and within 2 weeks had a titanium screw put in my wrist that'll be there long after im dead. A scar to always remember it, and slight pain when i overextend the wrist.

I constantly think about what could've happened if the dock was higher and I didnt lower it. Maybe id be dead, maybe id be paralysed, maybe my skull wouldve fractured and caused massive damage. I dont know. Some days I wish i knew. Some days I wish it was.

When it occurred what stood out in my mind was how funny it was. An hour before I fell i was crying to my therapist and then this. Funnily enough I refused to go to a hospital though because I was seeing Montaigne the next night and didnt want to risk missing out on seeing them

It felt so surreal, I didnt really feel much pain, I was more concerned with not freaking other people out (typical I know). It wasnt until I tried to put my hair up that night and couldnt that I broke down crying over it all. I was already going through a lot at the time

So its the 1 year anniversary of when i had my accident and broke my wrist. I always keep thinking about how lucky I was. I had lowered the dock slightly to get better access to the bin and that possibly saved my life / prevented worse damage
