Leafless trees and dense hedgerows emerge from layers of morning mist in the countryside at Shawford, Hampshire, England. A large, dark tree dominates the right side, its thick trunk and intricate network of bare branches silhouetted against a pale, almost white sky. Smaller trees and tangled vegetation stretch across the left foreground, gradually fading into the fog. Beyond them, faint outlines of more trees are barely visible through the mist, creating several soft layers of depth. Low fog hangs over the field and partially obscures a simple fence running through the landscape. Four small birds fly in the otherwise empty sky near the upper left, adding a delicate detail to the stark, monochrome scene.

A small, narrow boat carrying several silhouetted figures crosses calm water at dusk in Dakar, Senegal. The boat sits low and small within the expansive scene, beneath a glowing yellow-orange sun suspended in a vast, hazy golden-brown sky. Soft sunlight reflects across the gently rippled surface of the water, while the distant horizon is barely visible through the atmospheric haze. The large areas of uninterrupted sky and sea emphasise the minimalist composition and the contrast between the tiny boat and the immense surrounding landscape.

Monday’s Musing 💙 Can a photograph change the feng shui of a room? A peaceful landscape can create calm, an open horizon a sense of space, and woodland can bring nature indoors. What we hang on our walls may subtly change how a room feels. Visit our Etsy shop www.etsy.com/uk/shop/FengShuiFotos

Monday's Musing
Can a Photograph Change the Feng Shui of a Room?
We tend to think of wall art as decoration.
Find an empty wall. Find a picture you like. Hang it.
But perhaps there's rather more going on.
Feng shui encourages us to think about our surroundings and how the things we place within them affect the way a space feels. Wall art is particularly interesting because it is not merely an object in the room. It introduces a view, colour, mood and sense of movement that wasn't there before.
A photograph of a quiet landscape might make us pause. An open horizon can suggest space. Trees and woodland can bring something of the natural world indoors. A photograph full of movement, colour and activity can create an entirely different atmosphere.
In feng shui, imagery, colour, scale and placement are all considered when thinking about how artwork contributes to the feeling of a space.
