Next up we have one of our writers Ampelos with his piece "Even His Lies Are Lies: How Bill’s Lies Correlate with Two Distinct Translations of Line 27 in Hesiod’s Theogony" with spot art by our co-head mod @amaryllisfleur.bsky.social !

ampelos. writer. mathsanddinos on tumblr and AO3. Bio: He is a writer and artist with a love for classics, cryptids, and cats. If you had to give a lecture about gravity falls with no preparation, what topic would it be about? Bill and his trauma :)

amaryllisfleur. co-head mod, art mod, social media mod. amaryllisfleur on tumblr and bluesky, studioraynstorm on twitter. Bio: Long time Gravity Falls fan, fanartist, beta writer, newcomer to the zine scene, but excited for this project to launch! just finished their master's degree on art conservation. If you had to give a lecture about gravity falls with no preparation, what topic would it be about? either usage of body language to communicate in animation or a deepdive of fandom history and how theorycrafting influenced the early gravity falls fandom in creation of AUs and OCs.

Today we officially start our contributor spotlights! First up is one of our writers tempusedaxrerum and their piece "An Unnecessary Evil: Bill Cipher and the Myth of Redemption", with art by spot artist Nicolas!

tempusedaxrerum. writer. tempusedax-rerum on tumblr and tempusedaxrerum on AO3. Bio: I am a writer, editor, and lifelong student of philosophy with a deep interest in uncovering how trauma and intimacy intersect, both in narratives and in reality. My work explores the complexities of human relationships — particularly the ways they can both harm and heal simultaneously, and the ambivalence that apparent contradiction generates. If you had to give a lecture about gravity falls with no preparation, what topic would it be about? But the preparation is the best part of the whole process of giving a lecture!!!! hehe. I suppose it would have to be the metaphysics implied by the show's multiverse. My own take on it, anyway.

nicolas. spot artist. no-nic and n0-n1c on tumblr. Bio: artist and occasional writer · chronic worldbuilder · in their 20s · from the Czech Republic. If you had to give a lecture about gravity falls with no preparation, what topic would it be about? Translation challenges: jokes with visual components (Dipper, ScuttleBUTT Island, spilling the beans), clues to yet unresolved mysteries, American cultural context.
