During my work on Lux, I noticed an oddity in luarocks and launched a month-long investigation. luarocks.org had a critical RCE allowing anyone to gain root access to the site with a package upload. I will launch a blog post describing how the exploit works soon. luarocks.org/security-inc...

We strongly recommend against buying Pixel 11 devices. Pixel 8, 9 and 10 have much better overall security for GrapheneOS. Pixel 10 is cheaper with similar hardware and MTE. Pixel 11's Titan M3 should improve BFU security for users without a strong passphrase, but losing MTE craters AFU security.

They didn't follow our earthquake-resistant standards; they're made entirely of drywall. They are direct accomplices in the tragedy, and all they want is arbitrary control and to hide the figures. Enough of these three decades of socialism and populism, this has to trigger a liberation desire again

Nearly three decades of theft, persecution, and corruption are not enough for them. More than 700 buildings have collapsed, at least 80% of which were residential buildings constructed by this illegitimate and negligent government.

I like having this space for my projects and sharing things I consider interesting, however it's impossible not to make at least one rant post about my illegitimate government. It's astonishing how they've done nothing at any point other than create obstacles and try to politicize the tragedy.

There's still a long way to go, but thanks to #elixir and #rust, it's becoming possible to make a WYSIWYG editor for #norg using TipTap. All conversions and serializations happen in Elixir using the rust-norg parser via NIFs, TipTap only receives the data!

My courier will send me my router with OpenWrt this Friday; it'll be a long 8-day wait, but I'm sure it'll be worth it! I've figured out I can pay my ISP a little extra to get rid of cgNAT as well, so... Time to get more powerful at home, yay! Any ideas on what to do with my old router? :)

Stop using nil to signal failure. Elixir uses tagged tuples to turn success and failure into explicit data. When the shape of your data is the contract, you spend less time checking for special cases and more time writing clear logic. grox.io/blog/20-when... #ElixirLang

Oh, I almost forgot. Notarium is on hold; I want to wait for v2 of norg to be released, and I need to design many things carefully to avoid any problems. e.g., I have to design an embeddable web editor for norg similar to what markdown editors are and I want to make it right so it needs time :p

I must admit that the only downside to using Elixir and Phoenix with tailwind is that any other stack feels awful to work with afterward. It's a shame that getting an Elixir job is almost impossible, like finding a needle in a haystack, hah. I'm out of ideas for projects, I'm open to suggestions :)

Should culture fit be a factor in hiring, or is tech skill sufficient? To me, software development is first and foremost a social activity performed by humans, with all the baggage that comes with being human. Technical competence is nice, but it is not the core of who we are. 1/10

That's nice to know. It would be nice if UI frameworks like Tailwind provided some xs viewport breakpoints by default to help with that out-of-the-box, unless the container queries could save the day here? Although it would be a problem with older versions of Firefox that don't support them...

Designing for mobile-first in frontend development is fun... Until you come across mobile devices that for some reason have a viewport width less than 365 pixels. In some cases, they completely break CSS and you have to deal with edge cases. Why don't companies make phones with a viewport standard?
