We only have until 2 October to object to Eskom’s plan to increase electricity prices by 8,83%. If enough of us send in public comments explaining why we can’t afford a price increase, NERSA, the electricity regulator, may have the evidence it needs to reject Eskom’s plan.

Fund libraries, not data centers. Our communities need places to learn, gather, and grow, not another massive facility draining our water and resources.

Did you know that Universal Basic Income (UBI) would act as a large economic stimulus as well as social protection? South Africa, with its high inequality, is the perfect place to implement this policy which would partly pay for itself Read our report with @amandlamobi.bsky.social: bit.ly/4rzcQoS

[JOINT STATEMENT]: Why are South African classrooms and children becoming fast food billboards? McDonald’s branded desk donation illustrates the dangers of austerity and the consequent cuts to the education budget – it incentivises corporate actors to encroach into spaces abandoned by the state.

We have stood together as the amandla.mobi community year in and year out to say NO to VAT hikes & budget cuts. The R370 is already not being paid to millions who should receive it, & now Treasury wants people struggling to put food on the table to pay more VAT. The answer is simple: TAX THE RICH!

President Ramaphosa continues to make vague comments. In his #SONA2025 he mentions: “The SRD Grant will be expanded to create a more sustainable source of income." We need a proper plan on how he plans to transition to a Basic Income Grant. Vague comments on the R370 grant will just not cut it!
