Like many autistic people, I have mixed feelings about "Autism Awareness / Acceptance Day / Week / Month". Neurokin - I feel you. Increased awareness and acceptance this month doesn't improve things. Actions do. Everyone else - please watch my video, then ask yourself what action you can take.

Today, the White House said it would get rid of most of the Department of Education (ED). Everyone has the right to a good education — and we need to protect that right. Tell your Congresspeople we will not let this attack on disability rights continue! autisticadvocacy.org/2025/11/what...
Blue textured background. Text reads: Everyone has the right to a good education. Full statement on website. The ASAN logo is at the bottom. Blue textured background. Inside a light box, text reads: On November 18, the White House said it would move some offices out of the Department of Education. Six offices are being moved to four other government agencies. The head of the Department of Education is Secretary MacMahon. Secretary MacMahon said she wants to keep working on getting rid of the Department of Education. The White House also said that the U.S. does not need the Department of Education anymore. They said the Department of Education doesn’t actually help students get services. They said that “nothing happened” to students during the government shutdown, so getting rid of parts of the Department of Education is okay. That’s why the White House thinks they can move some offices out of the Department of Education. But the White House is wrong.

Catch me and some other fabulous autistic people in a show about autism on Channel 5 on Tuesday 8th April at 7pm. (I can only find the official reel in other social media places, such as: www.facebook.com/share/r/1ETU...) I’m looking forward to seeing the finished programme 😊

You’ll no doubt see lots of posts today and over the next few days with things like “New Year, new me”. Messages from well-intentioned people (and organisations), that can motivate some, but make others of us feel like we need to change. That’s not always necessary. 1/3

My first post on Bluesky! Wishing everyone a good Christmas break, whatever that may look like for you. I hope it is restful and not stressful, and you (and your families) are doing things you like, whether that be a family get together, or quiet time at home, relaxing. 1/2
A Christmassy image which says:

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
It has been fantastic meeting and working with so many of you this year, talks or training, through tutoring and mentoring, and in consultancy work.
Thank you for your support in 2024.
See you in 2025!
Amanda
