After attending a talk with Deborah Levy, Lisa Appignanesi & Begoña Gómez Urzaiz as part of the Kosmopolis Festival in Barcelona last year, I finally got round to reading Levy’s three part autobiography series this year. Excited to make a start on more of her novels in the new year! #booksky #books

Haven’t read as many books as I’d hoped this year, but just finished This Woman’s Work: Essays on Music and it was beautifully insightful. Highly recommend! #booksky #books

Cover of book, This Woman’s Work - Essays on Music, edited by Sinéad Gleeson and Kim Gordon

Highlighted quote from book “‘No te conoce nadie’, the poet Frederico García Lorca wrote. ‘No. Pero yo te canto.’ No one knows you, no. But I sing to you…. Tyrants hate music because no matter their force and their power, they will never, not ever, be able to control what is beautiful.

Highlighted quote from book: “I still loved them wrong, somehow - loved them too much, listening to them over and over again, bingeing on them like I binged on pastries and wine. I always wanted too much…. Restraint was never my jam. Jam was my jame: infinite sweetness, infinite feeling, infinite song.”

Highlighted quote from book: “music in its absolute right to exist, perhaps is not unlike mood, or landscape - external or internal. No mood can be the wrong mood, no landscape can be the wrong landscape, as no music can be the wrong music.”

Hello new platform and followers! 👋 We are an independent record shop in the beautiful market town of Nantwich. We sell both new and second-hand records. We also bring artists we love to town for in-stores, out-stores, launches, signings etc. This is what we do. And we love it. 😊
