Very torn on seeing Forgotten Island- On one hand, I have been hearing good things about it, I like supporting originality and encouraging Dreamworks to take more chances, but on the other, i've been really burnt out on frenetically-paced, ADD-driven animation as of late

Showed my dad Nirvanna the band the show the movie- took him a while to vibe with it as he initially was a bit put off with its format but ultimately thought it as interesting. He made me pause at one point to explain to him how they pulled off 2008 Matt and Jay seeing their future selves

At the theater they were just giving away Harry Potter popcorn tins to anyone who wanted popcorn and not a single person was happy to recieve them Primetime really good

An unasked for Harry Potter tin that held my popcorn and is now home in the trash can

Sonic Concert was interesting- everyone on stage was having fun and it had a good energy to it but the setlist was kinda wack? I'll spoil more in the follow up post

Made it to the Sonic Concert right before the scheduled time only to find out at the venue that the show started a half hour EARLY and I missed the opening. Great planning guys

Its interesting how the only way Brad Bird seemingly could've gotten this film made was by working with his predator buddy in spite of the negative publicity it caused but even so had to make a number of concessions to his vision. "I want it to be 2-D" "Nope" "I want it PG-13" "Nuh-uh"

Elliot "amaSCARYshark" Hartley @amacrazyshark.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Even keeping the controversy of whose producing it aside, this really feels like a movie aimed towards either Brad Bird himself or someone with Bird's exact interests and mindset cause what kids today like more than 1940s detective noir. Not saying it'll be awful, just very much a passion project

I like how from now on if anyone asks if we expect better from a Resident Evil or a Looney Tunes movie, the answer is unequivocally yes

A header that reads "From Zach Cregger, director of Barbarian, Weapons and...uh, Miss March? Resident Evil"

Saw Where the Wild Things are movie for the first time in a long while- WAY better than I remember. I like that Spike Jonze was given $100 million to make a slow paced, thoughtful art film for kids whose book was begging for the Illumination treatment

Planned on seeing Last Blossom tonight only to be baffled to see the showtime I was aiming for just COMPLETLEY wiped off the site. I SWORE it was there yesterday. Tried looking into it- apperently there was a mishap with the subtitles?

An infamous incident in the live action Attack on Titan where the theater subs froze on the phrase "I've been waiting for this day!"

Coyote vs Acme was cute! Animation takes some getting used to (I miss fully 2d characters) but it's a consistently charming time- crazy they were just never gonna release this at one point. With all the deep-cut LT characters in it, I was surprised they never did a Ralph Wolf gag

Wile E Coyote and Ralph Wolf who both have the exact same design

In celebration of finally going to see Coyote vs Acme tomorrow here's a comic drawn in 2024 as a response to the film seemingly being shelved for good

Roadrunner after some bird seed while an anvil on rope looms above

UHP- Dvid Zazlav shoots a gun from behind killing Wile E who lets go of the rope

I remember playing Jak 2 and Sly 2 recently and was kinda disappointed that half the gameplay was open-world stuff (more prevalent in the former especially) while the prior games weren't really. I'm not anti hub world, but they've gotten too big in those sequels. Get me to the levels already!

000

Elliot "amaSCARYshark" Hartley @amacrazyshark.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

Ive only played less of a quarter into GTA3 and 4 and learned that these kinds of open-world sandbox games just weren't my bag so I feel fine just not bothering to play these overpriced games built on overworked labor that are trying to kill physical discs but hey if you like em more power i suppose

While Peter Cullen will always be remembered as Optimus, to me his Toonami announcements were always the coolest. He could take ANYthing, such as a boring-ass Dragon Ball Z movie and hype it up to a can't-miss level. RIP www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCli...

So a long time ago I used to do movie reviews on youtube- mostly mainstream stuff. I saw a trailer for this and decided "why tf not" and tracked down a copy of this movie (not easy) and against all odds it was my most viewed video at the time to the point that the studio commented on my video. crazy

Enjoyed Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma even though I got killed by the guy behind me here. Way goofier of a movie than I expected from Jane Schoenbrun while still having a dream-like Lynch-y mystique. I only half-get it which is a good sign. PERFECT movie to eat with candy.

Enjoyed End of Oak Street- feels like a more fun Amblin-family throwback than some of Amblin's recent attempts at such. Never would've gathered this as a directorial follow up to Under the Silver Lake. Favorite aspect without spoiling is how unexplained the plot macguffin is.

A Dinosaur family (might not be the one from the movie)

It's really strange how apperently un-self aware the One Night Only movie is in regards to its own premise. In a weird way I can see a version of this working where they still keep the rom com angle of it while also playing up the dystopia of the scenario in the background
