Pro: I don’t get American political ads during sports. Con: I get the same We need to grow the Canadian oil and gas sector ad during every commercial break.

They went on to tell me I'm wrong and there HAS to be a debate about if trans people should be allowed to exist, so congrats @democrats.org, I'm out. -1 vote for you.

Sens 1-0 with a win over the Leafs --- always a nice way to start the season! #GoSensGo

See ya in 2028 fellow Phils fans. Go Sens go.

OK Phils, I could use a 9-0 lead before Nola sees the field. #RedOctober #GeauxPhils

It takes a special type of stupid to be able to pull this off in a World Cup year.

Fucking hell, let's do this again I guess.

Phillies pitching -- please be normal. For once, please be normal.

Fuck that pbp call. Thought it was gone for a second.

They destroyed Kerkering pitching him in a high leverage playoff situation before he was ready, hopefully not about to do the same to Painter.

Objectively hilarious that the Phillies offense wakes up just long enough to tie it, but not actually take the lead, then goes back to sleep.

Alyssa 🍁 @alyssagambone.northsky.social · 30/09/2026

The Phillies don't deserve Sanchez. This team better be massively different in April 2028. If there is a cap buyout period, our entire offense should be gone.

Alyssa 🍁 @alyssagambone.northsky.social · 30/09/2026

There is a huge difference between streaky and good, and it's been very clear for 2-3 years which the Phillies offense is.

OK Phils, either get the pain over with or make a run.

NAC "concert in your neighborhood" concert tonight. Tickets only $10 and the NAC orchestra is so good. Looking forward to it.

I should have gotten the 1.5L of amaretto instead of the 750 mL. Going to need it for the Rams game next week.

Being an Eagles fan is more stressful than being trans, which is total bullshit when you really think about it.

PHI decided to punt to CHI from the PHI 49* on 4th & 1* with 3:22 remaining in the 3rd while losing 7 to 20. With a Surrender Index of 9.48, this punt ranks at the 95th percentile of cowardly punts of the 2026 season, and the 92nd percentile of all punts since 1999.

Disappointed at only 93% progressivism. 😆

Closest public figures to my stances are Guilherme Boulos, Albert Einstein, Friedrich Engels, and Zohran Mamdani.

There is no doubt which season I prefer to buy clothes for based on the pile of hangers that are free when I switch from warmer clothes in the closet to cold weather clothes.

One of the biggest drawbacks of working from home is that is so easy to fall into a jean and sweatshirt rut, especially when my mental health is in the tank, but when I force myself to pick out some of the nicer clothes in the closet it is such an instant pick-me-up.

It will never not be surprising how much a once a week shot of a tiny amount of liquid can completely rewrite body chemistry is such an amazing and joyful way.

This week is torture at work, because I made sure to clear everything because a vendor was supposed to send data on Monday, and it's now Wednesday and still no data. Meanwhile there is a pile of things that start next week, which is why I made sure I had time to do the vendor work this week...

My long saga with the CRA over my first year taxes is finally over. I won about 95% of what I thought I should win, so still owe a little more money, but glad it's behind me. I messed up my financial situation so bad moving here (end up paying about 70% tax rate on 2024 income), but still worth it.

Said what I'm feeling better on LinkedIn thanks to more words.

I've struggling about how to continue with this account. For years, I've talked about the hopes I had about being a publicly out transgender woman in insurance.

But the thing is, most of those hopes are dead at this point. I barely participate in the industry anymore, as I'm unable to go to most CE conferences. I can get the CE online, but that doesn't replace the connections you get from in person meetings. I can't travel to either of the home offices of my company because (a) travel is close to impossible until I have a Canadian passport and (b) those countries governments have extreme anti-transgender policies to make it unsafe for me to work there. I feel kind of lost, caught between a professional world based in countries hell bent on driving trans people to extinction, and personal life in a country where I'm accepted, but the actuarial profession is somewhat closed to me unless I'm willing to try to pass more exams at 50 years of age, if I'm even still capable of that level of studying and memorization.

I don't really want to be the social media account that keeps talking about how horrible everything is. That's not healthy for me, and it's not great for others either.

So I'm just not sure what is next.

I feel so lost right now. Torn between a personal life in a place where life is pretty good and I'm not worried about the government destroying it and a professional life based in two countries where governments think I'm a subhuman.

Marc Sutcliffe and his wealthy benefactors have starved this city of the funds it needs with this nonsense. My property taxes need to be 10-15% higher so we can afford transit, housing, and homeless interventions. You want to save money, cut funding from the do nothing cops.

Week 1, so a win is a win, and Washington is going to be better than last year I think, but man I'd feel better if they looked stronger on offense.

Alyssa 🍁 @alyssagambone.northsky.social · 13/09/2026

Defense has looked good. Offense still out of sync, a little scary after last year but the receivers seem to be getting open a little better than last year so if they figure out the protection (or if Hurts uses his legs more effectively) it might be ok.
