A huge congratulations to the newly-minted DOCTOR @alyssa-laberge.bsky.social! Alyssa has worked with me for 7 years, first as a master’s student and then as a PhD student. Her growth as a scholar, teacher, and person has been such a joy to witness. She’s on to a TT position at UW LaCrosse!

This seems like a good time to remind people that the Stanford Prison Experiment was based on fraudulent data. The "guards" were cruel to the prisoners because Zimbardo told them what he wanted to find with his research, and because they *wanted* to help him prove his point.

Positive relations between incarcerated youth and staff in juvenile justice facilities are marginally associated with reduced rates of self-directed violence over time, highlighting the importance of staff training to foster supportive relationships and prevent self-harm among detained youth.

Primary caregiver monitoring knowledge is significantly associated with a reduction in recidivism among youth dually involved in both the juvenile justice system and the child welfare system, emphasizing the value of caregiver education to prevent reoffending.

First post! I’m a Criminal Justice PhD candidate at Michigan State and I study delinquency, the maltreatment-offending relationship, and dual system youth intersecting child welfare & juvenile justice. Most of all, I love teaching undergrads! Sometimes I post on social media, why not follow me!? 🤷🏻‍♀️
