purely guessing, maybe somebody used the age old trick of using their dog to hook up with someone but in a homosexual style, and then decided to give the dog a nice hat as a reward/picture for the social media post (adding a message with tape by the looks of it)

illustration of Dimitri hiding under the desk looking innocently up at Petra, who has just discovered him. he is radiating an innocent, sparkly aura, and also blushing a little. Petra is confused and horrified.

should have told those people they had a new game out

exactly! i was disappointed none of the other games used that style... thinking about it, it's possible that the transition from Curse of to Escape from was a contributing factor in my radicalization against 3d games

i don't know why that byond link doesn't work right, maybe because it doesn't put the www at the start? i checked and it is just www dot byond dot com

Dragon Warrior 3 completely reshaped my idea of what a game was capable of. i've played other games since that have been "better" in various ways, but i don't think anything will ever replace it as my favorite game of all time

i definitely played games that weren't made by companies before Cave Story, but it was through sites like Newgrounds and Byond.com, and those games didn't really feel "real" in the same way games on my Gameboy cartridges or CDs did. Cave Story was one of the realest games ever

Pokemon Red was the first game that i personally owned and it was great and all but Gold was a massive step up in every way. It added a ton of crazy stuff like the radio, the day night cycle, new types, mechanics that worked properly, etc etc. like the level of ambition of it was really crazy to me

being able to swap between all these different powers kind of like items in a Zelda game. And since it was the first game with this concept they weren't afraid to give you really straightforward powers that were more fun to use than the more gimmicky stuff in later games

Aria of Sorrow i believe was my introduction to the Metroidvania genre, one of the three great genres of videogames (puzzle, metroidvania, turn based rpg.) it was either Aria or Metroid Fusion, also an honorable mention. the soul gimmick of Aria was really good,

let's see if i can come up with words for talking about these Monkey Curse is a beautiful game, still probably my favorite point & click adventure ever. i don't have as clear an idea of my comedic influences as some people seem to but this must have had an effect
