I am so tired.

The tvorog is drying, the bread is resting, the garlic is confiting… let’s get the borscht boiling!

I take this to suppress my foxboy wonder so I can walk around in my cosplay as a brooding metaphysician 😌

Tired, worn thin, and a little marginal. I heard small conversations in more than one language ensue… and felt a stillness wash over me. I… am finally somwhere I can comprehend the logic of the space. Homecoming, so I have learned, is in small things—features of the quotidian, if you like.

Had such a time finding the milk and buttermilk to make my tvorog. I had eaten or drank nothing all day… and I sat there waiting on the bus… I couldn’t help but unscrew the cap and drain off a half pint or more in one long draft. And no one gave a damn—because we were all there together.

Returning the north east has redeemed my feelings of animality. Walking nearly everywhere, enjoying transit.. resulting a diet heavy on fish and peasant staples… I am myself again. Fully human, fully fox, one Altin. At last, the freedom to again interface with environs on paw.

To add to your thought… Why is it that 2D ‘has’ to be relegated, as it were, by a swifter competing technology? Or, rather, why has this been the framing! In a word, why is there a narrative of successive progress, when really all that happened was just the mere addition of another medium?

Funny to see this. I was talking about it with my mom earlier. Even when medicated, it’s annoying because you’re fluctuating thru the micro states… and it’s just like.. dammit can I have synchrony rn? Also some parasympathetic nervous system activation?? It’s time to write/read/plan/problem solve 🥲

The logicians of the both the low and high medieval period deserve acknowledgement. It would seem all we do now is reinvent their work absent a reference. We have lost continuity with distant conversations that are useable to us in one modality or another.

We need medieval history now than ever. I am sick of the so-called enlightenment serving as the mythic world historic beginning of useable “western” thought. Like… no liberal theorists, I am not going to pay homage to your thirty years war veteran pseudo-intellectuals.

We are presumed to be stupid things—a bit of raw breath, tissue, and passion. And this assumption is the genuine insult the “conservatives” implicitly author. I tire of it.

It is true that some forms lend themselves more to the pornographic gaze than others, but in truth, it is the comportment of the viewer in the end that determines what is seen and to what end it is seen, and that is an intelligence few are willing to predicate of the viewer.

Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 06/04/2026
A theologically mature society realizes that it is perhaps less the image which is pornographic, and more the gaze of the viewer itself which is pornographic.

And to suggest that making distinctions between what constitutes rational belief grounded in a dual dialectic with both present circumstance and the long expanse of the tradition and what is harmful and thereby outside of orthopraxis is not a “no true Scotsman” argument.

Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 31/03/2026
There is an obviously right and wrong way. One affirms the nameless, formless, timeless Good, whose predicates are many. The other is a flat, reductive, violent, and metaphysically challenged cosplay. I’ll call the hateful bigots *appropriating* my tradition’s theology fakers if I feel like it.

So we can critically challenge authority and tradition and economic structure, without spurning the Beautiful in the crossfire of our analyses.
000
Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
Anyhow, this is why people dislike progressivism. The assumption is that the Beautiful is associated with antiquated power structures/the aesthetic preferences that hold them up, but this is only half true. People want to make beautiful things, and will do so according to resources, no matter what.

Also, it’s only illegible for two reasons: Many times and places, our society simply can’t read it point blank, which means personal variations on script make it increasingly illegible. Or, the instruction was poor (which is true in most cases).

Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
Irrespective, we should be rearing people capable of making themselves legible across contexts—I am imagining a gentle Aurelian cosmopolitanism here… to that end, cursive genuinely helps. And let’s not forget that learning, verbal processing, and tactility go hand in hand.

Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
I mean to say… a cursive note or letter is taken very seriously. As a skill, it can help one subvert power dynamics. It suggests one has more “form” or “completion” or “aesthetic cohesion.” Anyhow…. Coherency is not where human value begins or ends. Not by a long shot.

Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
I am very young, twenty three. I was among the last generations to get the education. I then refined it by self teaching Spencerian. It makes a major difference in work settings where leaving notes matters and is part of intergenerational communication. It aesthetically conveys being “formed.”

Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
Honestly this is an American take. The rest of world using the Latin alphabet still teaches it. It’s a matter of teaching aesthetic discipline really, more than anything else. Imagine one’s written meaning were hermeneutically layered: Words, coherent meaning, then the beauty of flowing script.

Like… Put the buckwheat groats in the milk. Boil for 20 min. In the last two minutes, add: nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, butter, & a dash of vanilla extract. Boom—healthy, protein rich, peasant breakfast. Added benefit: You don’t have to look like a douche bag while savoring it. #BringBackPottage

By the time of the book’s composition, all three traditions were occupying different strata in the same Mediterranean polities; there would have been cross pollination. Nevertheless, Judaism beats everyone to the punch by centuries, articulating a God named Wisdom, among other transcendentals.
110
Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 25/02/2026
It’s a complex “yeah most likely” but, it was less a merger and more an organic fit/syncretism? The Jewish tradition’s wisdom literature, which antedates both Platonism and Christianity, is replete with named emanations of God, though these transcendentals are not named systematically. It’s poetic.
110
Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 25/02/2026
Anyhow, the current system of transcendentals doesn’t get… a lot of acknowledgement, unless your sect of Christian belief is really quite eastern and Neo-Platonic. An educated Catholic, Orthodox, or Sufi could look at this text and immediately see its a statement on the unity-from-diversity of God.
110
Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 25/02/2026
The Greek system of transcendentals were integrated into Christian thought. The One, the Good, the Just, The Nous, Beauty, Truth, Justice, the virtues, the All.. became commonplace in the metaphysics of the Christian high Middle Ages—the set of transcendentals became viewed as angels proper.
110
Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 25/02/2026
Of course, the tradition itself will have significances for the letters that transcend their status as signifiers. We perhaps then might consider them “iconic.” Anyhow, Christianity did not have a singularly unique Divine naming tradition (beyond the Trinity) even though Judaism did. But then…..
110
Altin DeRenart @altinfox.bsky.social · 25/02/2026
(1/a few) Ah, yes. So it does mesh, but in an *extremely* round about way. What you are are looking at is a kind of encoding that maps transcendentals (that is, forms/emanations of God) onto particular letters and their sounds—if I had to guess, for the purpose of memorization.

This State of the Union Address… is categorically evil. Watching the weaponization of hurt by the far right to fuel political animus in real time is like bearing witness to an unholy blood alchemy so unclean that its existence ought not be known even in pure theory. But, hey. What’s new.

We need a loose network of interlocking furred societies to essentially do what unions did at the bottom of the 20th century: Everything from legal defense to mutual aid to housing to skilled mentoring. We need autocephalous community leadership that effectively parallels state functions. Now.
