Guess you're talking about all the European statues we saw the last time we travelled. There's a lot of gilding! But yes, in the US, they are mainly bronze. Except the Gold Dome over the Georgia Capitol. Yes, it's gold.

Only my second attempt at challah. Top crack not right but it tastes perfect and has a nice texture. Next attempt changes…oven at 345 not 350, 12 minutes kneading in the mixer, not 8; longer proofing at all stages, looser braiding and a pan of water in the oven first 15 minutes. Made a huge loaf.

83 yrs, this old waffle iron still makes great waffles, but the plug was completely disintegrated so hubby’s fixing it. Parents married 1942 & I’m assuming that’s when this monster was bought. The only appliance I have left from them…I did destroy a toaster in the 60’s by burning it on the stove!
