Using a large-scale survey of both current and former tenure-line faculty across nearly all US PhD-granting institutions and 29 disciplines, we investigate which aspects of the academic workplace are (i) most gendered and (ii) most relevant to faculty retention patterns among respondents. Analyzing 6,615 free-text responses reveals that feeling devalued at work, both in formal evaluations and informal interactions, is the topic where women and men's reported experiences diverge the

most when given the opportunity to discuss anything that needed to be different about their jobs-a pattern that holds for nearly 300 institutions and across both STEM and non-STEM fields, and was particularly strong for women of color and tenured women in our sample. This is in contrast to most existing gender-based interventions in academia that target work-life balance. Further, devaluation is the topic most strongly associated with gendered departures among respondents, accounting for the majority of the gender gap in both considering leaving (current faculty) and leaving (former faculty). Finally, illustrative quotations contextualize gender-based devaluation in academia. These results provide new evidence for the long-known gender gap in faculty retention, illuminating how gendered dynamics in the workplace cross disciplines and institutions and relate to gendered decisions to leave academia. The question isn't whether Russia altered ballot papers or changed the count. It's whether Russian-linked activity shaped the information voters saw, amplifying misinformation as people decided how to vote. Also, how do we know this didn't impact the outcome of the referendum if the government's own Intelligence and Security Committee observed that no investigation was actually taken place? The referendum had no turnout threshold, no supermajority requirement and was not legally binding. Yet its narrow result was treated as an unquestionable mandate to take the country out of the EU. Given the unanswered questions about foreign interference, shouldn't Parliament have demanded a full assessment before pushing ahead? - We know why it didn't, because successive Conservatives MPs used Brexit as their

vehicle to become Prime Minister, career over country; shame on all of them. David Cameron's failure was to ask the country to vote on an undefined idea of Brexit. Voters should have been shown clear, realistic alternatives and the consequences of each. I don't believe the UK can rejoin the EU without another referendum. Charles Baldis Special Counsel U.S. Office of Special Counsel 1730 M Street, NW, Suite 218 Washington, DC 20036 RE: Request for Hatch Act Investigation Concerning Raid of Representative Ilhan Omar's Home Dear Special Counsel Baldis: We respectfully request that your office investigate whether Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow, Attorney General Todd Blanche, or any other employee of the Department of Justice (DOJ) or Department of Homeland Security (DHS), violated the Hatch Act by orchestrating a predawn raid of Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar's Washington, D.C. home on October 12, 2026. This unprecedented raid occurred a mere four days before general early voting begins in Minnesota and appears to be timed to influence voters in the upcoming midterm election, in violation of 5 U.S.C. § 7323(a)(1). Rep. Omar is currently the Democratic candidate for Minnesota's 5th congressional

district. DOJ's Justice Manual advises prosecutors and agents that they "may never select the timing of any action, including investigative steps, criminal charges, or statements, for the purpose of affecting any election, or for the purpose of giving an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate or political party." That direction is not a simple policy directive: choosing to investigate or prosecute someone for the purpose of affecting an election violates the Hatch Act, 5 U.S.C. § 7323(a)(1), which prohibits any officer or employee of the executive branch from using their "official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election." DOJ has further instituted a longstanding "rule of forbearance" that dictates that DOJ will not take overt investigative steps against a candidate in the run up to an election for fear of affecting or influencing election results.² Notwithstanding the Hatch Act and its own longstanding policy, the

Department of Justice secured a warrant to allow the Department of Homeland Security to raid Rep. Omar's home just weeks before the election, purportedly based on accusations that her father made misrepresentations on her asylum paperwork over thirty years ago when she was 12 years old. DOJ and DHS's decision to instigate this raid at this very moment and for these alleged reasons is unexplainable except for as a politically motivated use of power to influence the Minnesota congressional election in violation of the Hatch Act. A review of this matter is therefore immediately necessary.

I briefed him on the latest Russian strike on Kyiv and no advance warning from our partners about the ballistic missile launch. This is the second time Ukraine has received no warning this week. A rescue operation is underway - the strike damaged a residential building, and the fire engulfed apartments on the first through eighth floors. All emergency services are on the scene, and residents are being evacuated. So far, one person has been reported killed and six injured. My condolences to their families and loved ones. There was also a strike on the grounds of an energy facility - one of Kyiv's main power plants. We are counting on our partners' support.
