Azure: “This unit…may require assistance.”
SFX: Crinkle Crinkle

Panel Two.
Max scoops Azure up into her arms with ease. Azure blushes.
Max: “Upsy Daisy!”

Panel Three.
Max: “Can you get dressed on your own?”
Azure: “This unit may require… additional assistance.”

Panel Four.
Max is helping Azure into a skirt and a T-Shirt. The text on the T-Shirt reads “Tinkle Machine” in stylized font.
Azure: “Why do you have printed diapers in this size?”
Max: “Oh yeah long story short I keep a stockpile in different sizes for some…very good friends, but I don’t think they’d mind me borrowing some for your carbon plastic tush.”
Azure: “Acknowledged.”

Max and Azure walk out of Max’s workshop wearing coats and scarves into the snow. Max is standing behind Azure holding both of its hands, supporting it in walking.
Max: “Soooo I wouldn’t have guessed that bonnet of yours was attached…to you? It doesn’t seem load-bearing, would you want me to remove it?”
Azure: “This unit would prefer to keep it.”
Max: “Well it does make you look like a very distinguished little…come to think of it I should ask. Are you a girl, Azure? I mean I know you’re girl shaped but…”
Azure: “Girl shaped is a more apt descriptor than girl when referring to this unit in specific.

Panel Two.
Max glances over her own shoulder at the trans flag patch sewn on the jacket sleeve.
Max: “Super fair, shouldn’t have assumed. Y’know especially since…”
Azure: “Acknowledged.”

Panel Three.
Azure: “The bonnet is also…important…standard.”
Max: “Standard how?”

Panel Four.
Azure shivers.
Max: “Are you getting too cold, Sweetpea? We can go back inside if you wanna.”
Azure: “Not cold. This unit is…reclaiming memory files.”

Panel Five.
Flashback, a scene of an opulent blue mansion in the middle if a blue city.
Azure (Narrating): “This unit was a maid bot… in the Cerulean District. This unit was 1 of a staff of 600.”
Max (Interjecting): “Wow! Whoever you were serving must’ve been ri-i-ich!”
Azure (Narrating): “Correct.”

Past Azure is seen with all of its original parts in tact, wearing a maid uniform, sweeping the floors.
Azure (Narrating): “The upkeep of the estate was constant and consistent work. For years without incident until…”

Panel Two.
Azure’s left arm pops off its ball joint.

Panel Three.
Azure rushes down the halls clutching its dislodged arm. Screaming.
Azure: “This unit requires assistance!”

Panel Four.
Azure is received by a clique of other maid bots, the main of which plugging its robotic ears.
Azure (Narrating): “This unit’s previous administrator: Admiral Firth…”
Max (Interjecting): “You were military?”
Azure (Narrating): “No that was just that unit’s name.”
Admiral: “What this unit requires is a reduction in volume! Additionally! Every unit in this line is programmed to run regular self-maintenance. Run the appropriate subroutine then return to post.”
Azure: “Acknowledged.”

Panel Five.
Computer readout: “ERROR!”
“Running //// subroutine…” is repeated several times.

Panel Six.
Azure (Narrating): “Not long after…”
Azure: “This unit attempted maintenance subroutine, but…could not find it in this unit’s files.

Panel Seven.
Admiral: “This unit must be mistaken as any unit that cannot self maintain must be decommissioned. Does this unit wish to be… decommissioned?”
Azure: “No…”
Admiral: “Run. Subroutine. Then. Return. To. Post.”
Azure: “Acknowledged.”

Digital Comic, Panel One.
Azure’s vision is clouded by pink static and error messages of unintelligible babbling. Azure is stills clutching its arm
Azure (Narrating): “This unit attempted to run the subroutine, but it was nowhere to be found. In its place was a…glitch…//// This unit could repair itself as easily as you would treat your own wounds.
Max (Interjecting): “My gosh, Azure…I’m so sorry.”

Panel Two.
Back to the present, Max and Azure are still walking through the snow.
Azure: “Years since then this unit has held itself together, piece by piece, until…This unit cannot recall further.”
Max: “Watch the ice-“

Panel Three.
Azure slips.
Azure: “WAAH!”
Max: “Azure!”

Panel Four.
Azure lies flat on its butt.
Max: “Azure are you ok???”
Azure: “This unit… simply tripped…no structural damage… just…more leaking…”
Max: “Don’t worry! We’ll get you back on your feet again. Well literally you need to get used to your legs again and- Look! The leak and the self-maintenance glitch! I’ll make those my top priorities!”

Panel Five.
Azure: “When this unit is repaired you would no longer be this unit’s administrator?
Max: “Well that’s the idea at least. That’s what you want right?”
Azure: “Want… yes…”
Azure looks off. Saddened.

POV. The woman is now in plain view having taken a step back. She has violet hair kept in two tight buns on either side of her head. She’s wearing heart shaped welding goggles. She has a round face and prominent front teeth. She’s still holding a soldering iron in her hand.
The POV yelps and holds up its plastic hand.
The Bot: “GEEP!”

The Bot: “How long has this unit been offline?”
The Woman: “Couldn’t say, but it looked like you were out for a long time.”

Panel Two.
The Woman: “Only your head and some of your body was intact when I found you. Whatever I didn’t have in house I had to custom order. The see-through polycarbonate’s what I could make do with. All’s told you’ve been in my workshop here for six months.”

Panel Three.
The Woman: “So uhh..You got a name?”
The Bot: “This unit is referred to by Azure Lake. You may use ‘Azure’ or ‘Lake’ in equal measure.”

Panel Four.
The Woman rests her welding goggles on top of her head.
The Woman: “Well Azure Lake! It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance! My name’s Maxine, but you can call me Max!”
She says with a smile.
Azure: “You are to be this unit’s new administrator?”
Max: “Yeah! For the time being anyway. I’ll hand admin privileges back over to you when we’re sure you’re working A-OK! Which shouldn’t take too long.”

Digital Comic. Panel One.
Pull back to reveal unbeknownst to Azure Lake, it has been wearing a wet printed diaper the entire time! Pink blush completely covers its face!
Azure: “Follow up inquiry: WHY IS THIS UNIT IN A DIAPER??!”

Panel Two.
Max: “Oh yeah that! I’ll admit it’s a low tech solution, but you have an external coolant leak. This is the best I can think of ‘til we find the root cause. In the meantime you’ll need to be taking in new coolant daily to compensate.”

Azure offendedly points to a computer readout behind it.
Azure: “There should NOT be anything wrong with this unit’s coolant tank, No aberrations read!”
Max: “Trust me you need that thing, you start going at the drop of a hat.”
Sfx: pshhhhhhhhhhhhh

Panel Four.
The already wet diaper beneath azure is flooded to the brim with leaking coolant.
Max: “Oh! See! There you go right now…”
Sfx: piddle paddle

Maxine grips the velcro tape on Azure’s wet diaper in hand, peeling it up and off.

Panel Three.
Azure lies exposed on Maxine’s workbench with a fresh diaper underneath it. It covers its eyes in embarrassment.
Max: “Yowza! You really soaked through this! Poor thing.”
Azure: (mumbling) “Mm..mm..mm.”
Max: “I know, I know, it’s not fun. I’m going as fast as I can don’t worry.”
Azure: “Will you need to do this often?”

Panel Four.
Azure’s POV. Through plastic fingers.
Max: “2 to 4 times a day, yes, and like I said you’ll need fresh intake to top you off so long as the leak persists.”

Panel Five.
Azure’s POV. Maxine hands Azure a bright yellow bottle of coolant. A soft expression falls on her face, and Azures fingers lower slightly.
Max: “Here you go, Sweetpea.”

Panel Six.
Azure’z POV. Azure takes the bottle hungrily and begins drinking. Azure’s Visual crackles softly in pink static. Thinking to itself.
