Hi everyone, I’ve finally finished the 3 Firstborn Hellblasters I’ve been painting for a while. I’m really happy with how they turned out 😊 #nerdlings #oldhammer #dadhammer #spacemarine #40K #minipainting

Most of my minis are hard palstic but I've got a pretty decent amount (maybe 10%) are pewter and I have a few resin minis and most of my new bases are 3D printed resin (from Etsy sellers). Here is a photo of my main Space Marine characters before I painted them as an example.

6 classic Warhamemr 40K Space Marine characters, all unpainted and made form a combination of pewter, plastic and resin materials with some green stuff and other bits in there too.

Quote post with something old you are proud of… Most of my minis are old but these three are the oldest and some of my best so far. All three are pewter and from 1995 (I think all 2nd edition). #nerdlings #oldhammer #dadhammer

1995 pewter Space Marine Librarian painted in blue and gold armour and on a new 40mm base.

1995 pewter Space Marine Apothecary painted in grey/white and gold armour, standing over a fallen battle brother on a scenic 40mm base.

1995 pewter Space Marine Techmarine wearing red and gold armour and standing on a scenic 40mm base. His left arm and forge Bolter are from the new Primaris Techmarine kit.

I’ve had to make a second page as there are so many ace games I forgot about!

Another 9 games that made me who I am today, in release year order:

1. Golden Axe - Maybe the beginning of my love of Sword & Sorcery.
2. Half Life - Just incredible.
3. Fallout 2 - I probably played this more than the first and loved it just as much.
4. C&C Tiberian Sun - I still think this is the best ever C&C game, the setting was so wonderfully bleak.
5. Medi Evil - Dark Souls… for kids!
6. Baldur’s Gate 2 - Bigger, better and I actually finished this one as a kid.
7. Mass Effect - I only played this recently as the Legendary Edition but it’s become one of my top games.
8. Bloodborne - One of the hardest and most rewarding games I’ve played, also very bleak… maybe I have a thing for bleak games.
9. The Last of Us Part 2 - Talking of bleak games… outstanding though.

This was so hard to do as there are so many games that I love that couldn't fit on the list but here are my 9 games that were most influential on me. #My9Games my9games.com/en/s/63402ec...

The 9 games that were most influential on me, in release year order:

1. Command & Conquer: Red Alert - One of the games I played the most as a kid and got me into RTS games for so long.
2. Pokemon Red - Another of my most played games, I still have the original cartridge and GameBoy Colour.
3. Fallout - Such a fun game and one of the resons for my love of RPGs.
4. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Absolutely loved Sonic as a kid and Sonic 2 was my first and most loved of the original Mega Drive Sonic games.
5. Baldur's Gate - The reason why I love RPGs so much, a fantastic game.
6. The Last of Us - Amazing game, really hit me hard when I first played it.
7. SOMA - Just unbelievable the way a game can really blow your mind, a piece of thought provoking art.
8. Hollow Knight - I love everything about this game, one of my more modern favourites.
9. Death Stranding - This probably wouldn't have hit me in such a profound way if I didn't play it just when COVID hit. Playing it at the same time as my brother when we couldn't hang out was such a unique moment in time.

Right well after a good few stripping sessions this is about as good as I can get it, think I’m happy with getting most of the old paint off. Also can anyone tell if this is pewter or lead? I assumed it was peewee but apparently some old GW stuff was lead?! #oldhammer #nerdlings #40K

I am 100% behind this, I pretty much entirely bought the Chaos Space Marine Terminator Sorcerer for the lil guy that comes with him 🥰 also very happy the new Ork models have squigs a plenty!

After the recent Space Marine news I decide to have a think about what modern units I could proxy with my current minis. So I’ve spent the weekend putting together my Firstborn Hellblaster squad! Turns out the old Hero Quest bases I’ve been removing make nice height boosters. #nerdlings #oldhammer

Decided to have a little break from painting Space Marines and it’s not been the weather to carry on stripping my Dreadnought so I decided to paint the rest of my Hero Quest Chaos Warriors. Pretty happy with how they turned out! #HeroQuest #Oldhammer #Dadhammer #Nerdlings

After the Space Marine news last week I’ve stopped painting my Tactical Marines for a bit and have started work on restoring a Legend. My 1995 metal Dreadnought. I forgot to take a picture of how he looked before I started but the fist paint stripping session went well! #oldhammer #nerdlings #40K

Ooh nice! I do like that style of boxnaught with the big fist and helmet, my 2 are the classic sarcophogus fronted ones with the twin-lascannon and missile launcher and assualt cannon and stubby fist combo (only 1 painted). I may have to buy one of the Venerable Dreadnought kits before they go 🤔

I mean am I a bug as well? If so it depends if the year starts during the events of the game, if so hopefully I’d be one of the random folk chilling in Dirtmouth, if not I’ll be some infected husk wandering about. #HollowKnight #Gaming

What a beautiful smile 😁 I don't have as many toothsome minis as I would have thought but here are a couple of sets of gnashers for ya.

A classic Hero Quest Gargoyle showing off his award winning smile.

A classic metal Tyranid Termagant with a lovely set of chompers.

A classic Hero Quest Skeleton, like all skeletons he is always smiling :)

I’m happy to present my take on the saviour of Clacton, a true British hero… Count Binface! This excellent miniature is from Troublemaker Games and £3 from each purchase goes to the NHS. Still a few days to go until the Clacton by election too. #VoteBinface #CountBinface #ReformOut #Nerdlings

I have decided to do my own Inquisitorial Agents for my radical Inquisitor’s retinue (the Kill Team were far too boring for me). This is Khrek Rrok, a Kroot Carnivore who now counts as a standard Agent. Not much kitbashing, just a shorter rifle and 25mm base. Happy with the result though. #nerdlings

After 185 hours over 8 months of playing I have finally finished my first game of Baldur’s Gate 3, and all I can say is what a game! I’m going to miss Maybelle my lil redemption Durge and all her pals but will definitely play again one day with a new character. #baldursgate3 #bg3 #darkurge

A screen shot of the farewell party in Baldur’s Gate 3 centered on my character Maybelle. She is a deep gnome with pale blueish/purplish skin and dark blue hair and wearing a lavish silver and grey outfit, holding up a golden cup. Scratch, a white dog, is sitting on the left side of the picture and Astarion, a vampire elf, is standing on the right.

To be fair no branding (or pot, for that matter) matches the classic Citadel Colour paints from when I first started collecting Warhammer but at least the new one isn’t as bad as the black top pots. So many of my old colours dried out in those 😕

A collection of 4 generations of Citadel Paints going from oldest on the left to newest on the right, all still with working paint in.
